Yesterday/tonight was the first big set of primaries: TX, NC, and AR.
Well-known GOP TX Rep. Dan Crenshaw (the guy with the eyepatch) looks like he’s lost quite possibly because he refused to be a 2020 election denier and has called for more civility. He’s not been “MAGA enough” despite being very conservative.
TX Dem Rep. Al Green, who held up a sign at SOTU saying blacks aren’t apes, is in a tight race with a much younger opponent. They were previously reps in different districts, but redistricting had lead to this unusual race, which is helping Green’s opponent. They’re headed to a runoff.
TX GOP Rep. Tony Gonzalez, accused of having an affair with a staffer who committed suicide, gets into a runoff due to a near tie with his opponent, Herrera.
TX Senate races:
Dems: I think moderate newcomer Christian Talarico will be declared the winner over Rep. Crockett.
Some controversy because after a judge extended Dallas voting two hours due to confusion on what precinct to vote in by many due to redistricting and other changes, the YC Supremes put in a stay of that ruling!
GOP veteran Senator Cornyn and crooked gross Paxton are in a runoff.
NC Senate: Dem Gov Roy Cooper got 98% of the vote!
AR races: nothing interesting/close.
Thanks Larry,
Going to be a very interesting year for elections.
The lib Crockett conceded the Dem TX Senate nomination to the more moderate Talarico. I like him so far from what I’ve seen of him. He appears to be a pretty moderate Dem along with a strong Christian background though he doesn’t push his religion. I hope Cornyn beats Paxton to face Talarico in Nov.
