We're taking care of our daughters 3 dogs this weekend since her family is out of town, in Chicago.
My wife has the house, super duper decorated for Halloween with a hundred+ pumpkins, ghosts and other things hanging from the ceiling and situated everywhere for our 4 year old grandson, Cyrus.
That's one of the magical things in life.

Anyways, back to the dogs. 1 of the 3 dogs, Adelle is all upset, barking at her big scarecrow because she thinks that it's real! (they had a dog in the past, Prince that would watch tv and bark anytime another dog or animal was on tv because he thought it was real).
So now we get to:

A scarecrow is a decoy or mannequin that is often in the shape of a human. Scarecrows are usually dressed in old clothes and placed in open fields to discourage birds from disturbing and feeding on recently cast seed and growing crops.[1] Scarecrows are used around the world by farmers, and are a notable symbol of farms and the countryside in popular culture.

The common form of a scarecrow is a humanoid figure dressed in old clothes and placed in open fields to discourage birds such as crows or sparrows from disturbing and feeding on recently cast seed and growing crops.[1] Machinery such as windmills have been employed as scarecrows, but the effectiveness lessens as animals become familiar with the structures.[2]
Since the invention of the scarecrow, more effective methods have been developed. On California farmland, highly-reflective aluminized PET film ribbons are tied to the plants to produce shimmers from the sun. Another approach is using automatic noise guns powered by propane gas. One winery in New York has even used inflatable tube men or airdancers to scare away birds

This got me thinking more too. In the past, I had problems with animals in our garden and used fake predator images (scare crows and owls) to try to keep them away.........but to no avail.
Another trick was to sprinkle human urine around the area. That seemed to work for awhile but they get used to the scent and ignore it after X period of time. Stores sell real predator urine that you can use. You have to keep applying it after it rains hard and they probably get used to that also. The human urine is free.
