metmike: What happened to George Floyd was horrible and hopefully will lead to more permanent, positive changes in how cops enforce the law(without racial bias).

What is revealing is the hypocrisy with the lack of outrage that numerous cops were being killed because of the reaction, businesses being burned down, vandalized and looted. People lives being ruined............because of politics that tells us one man's death has much more meaning politically than all others.

Like the social distancing and economic shut downs.  They were absolutely needed to save lives for weeks and are still needed, with not essential activities being banned including going to church or getting a haircut or opening a gym in some communities resulting in arrests for those that opened for those activities............until the politics suddenly wiped that rule out completely. Like somebody flipped a switch from off to on, it was suddenly ok for thousands of people to get together, crowded together in fact,  in huge crowds to protest because clearly, it's ok to do certain things that actually have a higher risk if they support the right political agenda.

In this case, a cop getting shot by somebody breaking the law, while they are enforcing the law is not nearly as big of a deal as a white cop killing a black man.

For sure cops need to be held to a higher standard............the HIGHEST standard in fact and criminals have NO standards, so we sort of expect criminals to kill cops but we don't expect cops to kill criminals.

However, a human life is a human life. 1 persons life should not be worth 1,000 times more than another's or 10,000 times more news coverage.

The defunding police effort right now is based, in part on convincing people that cops, in general are bad and the service that they provide is not worth it.

When Trump took a stance on law and order, it caused the birth of this movement as the other side immediately needed to fight against whatever Trump was for.  They define everything in terms of President Trump's positions. Everything that he does is seen as bad and they need to vilify it and be for the opposite of what he is for.

You know its true, even if you have Trump derangement syndrome.

We should note that  the "defund the police" movement did not exist, until suddenly, President trump came out with strategies to strengthen law enforcement ( including using the national guard and military).
