no more gasoline powered cars in 2035

Our governor in Calif just signed a bill that stated that from 2035 on, no more new gasoline powered cars could be sold.

If you have seen the rush-hour gridlock on our freeways, you might think this is a great idea. There are a gazillion cars belching out exhaust gases (with a few rare Teslas in the mix), often giving us bad air quality.

Wouldn't it be nice to replace all these cars with electric cars?

There is only one problem....

This is not going to work out in the summer time. When the weather gets hot, the state does not have enough electricity to let everyone run their airconditionings or refrgerators. We have to deal with "rolling black-outs"

Can you imagine adding a gazillion electric cars to the electricity grid?

But its so much, much worse than that Gunter.

Not just adding all those vehicles to demand for electricity but banning the fossil fuels that supply almost all of the energy for it now.

Solar and wind that are only capable of generating a small amount of energy now are somehow going to take over and replace all of our current needs..............and, only in the land of the Green Fairy Tale, also be able to generate a tremendous amount of additional electricity for cars.....at the same time.

This is science fiction!

And the plan, in eliminating the combustion engine will cause corn ethanol fuel, that is mixed into gasoline at 10% to go completely away.

There is a big difference between what you want or think is the best for us and the realistic world

I would like  to have all paved roads in our county but pavement that would stand the heavy truck traffic in our county would bust any hope of paying for paved roads. So being realistic, gravel roads are here to stay. We own our own gravel pits, so that is the end of any debate

But some times these things are not realistic in our world

Maybe some day, we can try and hope, for some thing better, but realistic always gets in the way of our hopes and dreams

Can I have a new combine for Xmas???

Not realistic with this yrs early frost reducing yield

Heck with the border closed we can't even go to a warm place this winter for a short holiday

The realistic part always seems to be a problem

now they are talking about it... finally

California does not have enough electricity to handle household demands on a hot day.

It would be impossible to supply electricity for 10-15 mill electric cars. What are these politicians thinking?

Thank Gunter,

This is what I've been saying for years. This is one of the several reasons that the Green New Deal has a zero chance of working.

Unless some new source of energy is discovered soon, there is a zero chance that we can replace fossil fuels with what we have now.

But the gatekeepers know this. They will use this to massively increase carbon and energy taxes on us...........it's already starting.

They have used it for their "save the planet" agenda.

Which includes US and global socialism.

In Canada we have a carbon tax. Trudeau has bought into the climate crisis and is already taxing fossil fuels. So our farm uses a heck of a lot more than our city cousins but, who cares. Our Ag community is trying to lobby for relief on higher taxes for farm use energy, which is used to produce food.

So far a deaf ear and we pay the tax

Wait until you folks pay a tax to support the Climate crisis. Ca. is just the beginning

Your country and ours will be paying taxes to fight a non existing crisis, but when did facts bother the left, when they want to increase taxes,

On a plan that has zero chance of working, as mike told us.
