We could have avoided much of the damage/deaths if they had just told people to get N95 masks instead of telling people NOT to get N95 masks and tricked so many people into thinking that cloths masks actually protect them.

I don't believe this was done intentionally (but one has to wonder) If it had been, this would have been the recipe to maximize the damage............actually telling people to NOT get N95 masks. 

This would be like, with heavy rain forecast,  telling people to not use an umbrella or rain coat..........save those for the people that really need to stay dry.

Or when out in the Summer sun.............save the sunscreen for the people that really need to be protected from UV radiation.

Yeah, it's almost that no brainer, looking at the science of masks. 

                Get N95 masks ASAP! Here's the truth.

Instead of wearing masks that filter out 95% of the COVID(thats what the N95 stands for) its somehow better to have lockdowns?

Wearing N95 masks would have completely eliminated any discussion, anywhere of a need for a lockdown.
