Biden And Kerry Get Humiliated On Earth Day, But Are Too Dumb To Realize It

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2021/04/24/biden-and-kerry-get-humiliated-on-earth-day-but-are-too-dumb-to-realize-it/

“Kerry and other Biden administration officials have said that it is vital to work on climate with China.” Nothing like starting a negotiation from a position of strength.

And so last week Kerry got exactly the treatment in China that you would expect. In short, the Chinese gave him the scorn and contempt that he deserves. As usual, China made no specific promises whatsoever on reducing its own emissions, and took the opportunity to lecture Kerry on the U.S. fulfilling its commitments. Chinese Vice-Premier Han Zheng had this to say (from the SCMP):

“China welcomes the US return to the Paris agreement, and expects the US side to uphold the agreement, shoulder its due responsibilities and make due contributions.”

And from China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying:

“[The U.S.] return [to the Paris Agreement] is by no means a glorious comeback but rather a truant getting back to class,” Hua said of the United States. She pressed the United States to “offer how it will make up for the lost four years”, including payments to the UN-backed Green Climate Fund, which provides support to developing countries worst hit by climate change.

Which brings us to President Biden’s Climate Summit today. You may know that the previous “commitment” made by President Obama under the Paris Climate Agreementwas that the U.S. would reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 26 to 28% from the level of 2005, and do so by 2025. (I put the word “commitment” in quotes because the Paris Agreement was never submitted to the Senate for ratification as a Treaty, and therefore was never binding on the United States.). Anyway, Biden today, with absolutely nothing in hand from China after Kerry’s failed mission last week, nevertheless proceeded essentially to double the U.S. promise to cut emissions. From the New York Times today:

In a show of renewed resolve after four years of the Trump administration’s unvarnished climate denial, Mr. Biden formally pledged that the United States would cut its emissions at least in half from 2005 levels by 2030.

And how about handing out some tens or hundreds of billions of the infinite free U.S. taxpayer cash to every third world kleptocrat?

[The Biden] administration also announced it intends to double by 2024 the amount of money it offers to help developing countries, compared with what the United States spent annually in the second half of the Obama administration.

Estimates are that U.S. annual greenhouse gas emissions are currently running about 15% below the 2005 level, with the reduction almost entire due to the fracking revolution — and having next-to-nothing to do with increasing amounts of wind and solar energy, which are insignificant. But that leaves about 35% to go from the 2005 level to get to Biden’s newly-announced goal. You can be sure that Biden himself has absolutely no idea how this might be accomplished. And indeed it will not be accomplished. However, Biden promises to do enormous damage to the U.S. economy in the futile effort.

Xi, meanwhile, is rubbing his hands with glee at the stupidity of the U.S. leaders. He pockets each successive U.S. promise to destroy its own economy, and then responds with empty words and no specific commitments at all from his own side. Xi actually showed up at Biden’s summit today. Here is what he had to say, as quoted in the New York Times:

President Xi Jinping of China said his country would “strictly limit increasing coal consumption” in the next five years and phase it down in the following five years. . . . Mr. Xi repeated his pledge from last year to draw down carbon emissions to net zero by 2060. And, in a pointed reminder to his host, President Biden, he said that the industrialized countries of the West had a historic responsibility to act faster to reduce emissions.

I love that part about “strictly limit[ing]” coal consumption. With 250 GW of new coal power plants in development, what does that even mean? I guess that building more new coal plants than the U.S. even has is now a “strict limit.” China’s emissions, already far the largest in the world, will continue to increase rapidly, without any sort of quantitative promise to do otherwise. Oh, there is that mention of “net zero” emissions by 2060. Xi must have some sort of scam of purchased credits in mind. But don’t worry, he is already almost 68 and knows that he will be dead long before 2060. So will most everyone else who attended this summit. Nobody will be around to remember this meaningless statement.

This was my comment:

This is jaw dropping ignorance!

It would be like somebody in a game of high stakes poker, showing their  opponents what the cards are in their hand the entire time, and letting their opponent pick whatever cards they would like to play out of the deck.
Then, after a few losses by them, report back to others, not in the game that everything is fair and square and ask the others to finance your poker playing against this opponent, using the exact same rules………. for the next 10 years.

Yes Mike

I don't know if the left is driving this silly environment policy but even environmentalist have to realize Biden is spouting policy that does not benefit the USA in the long term

I hope the EU may have a different opinion because Trudeau is lock step with Biden

Even if you believe the carbon thing you have to begin to wonder who pays and who benefits

my obeservation (from discussions with college kids),... most young peope who vote for lib politicians are very naive about the details here.  (on this topic).

they don't realize that the largest growth in pollution (and greenhouse gases... if you think that is a problem) comes from countries that are exempt in these agreements.

they exxagerate the amount of pollution coming from the u.s. (and don't realize it has been flat for 15 years).

they greatly underestimate how much pollution is coming from china, russia, india, etc.

they don't realize the paris accords will accomplish very little.

they act like, maybe its not perfect, but we have to do something.

they don't know how to do an honest cost/benefit analysis of  policy, and its effects.

they are even willing to give credibility to very naive kids like greta from scandinavia.

Bear,   they are perfect examples of the results of government schools.  Life reeducated some of them, but many remain perfectly malleable.

This behavior is very frightening to me.

Either they are on a mission to obliterate the US or they are too dumb to realize that this is what their plan would do or this is all massive ruse to get their agenda passed(to empower the democrats) and they know that most of these US obliterating policies will not get very far because they are almost impossible.

They may realize the jig is up because all the science and data is blatantly busting the fake climate crisis scam..........so they better hurry up and impose the agenda before its too late.

Personally, I think there is a high chance, that once the agenda is imposed, they will start telling us the truth but do it like this:

"Good news everybody!!! All those carbon taxes and penalties and costs and changes we made, saved the planet...we've narrowly avoided the apocalypse!!"

Then, they will start showing the data that  I've been showing.....the truth..... instead of censoring it and tell everyone "Great job! but we must continue with the agenda or the climate crisis will come back!!"

The US needs to keep giving tons of money to countries like China for instance and its ok for China to increase emissions because the atmosphere only responds to CO2 from the rich countries like the  US.

Don't worry people if that sounds strange. We know what we''re doing and 97% of the worlds scientists are telling this to us......so we have to just follow the science, not question it. Trust us. Just do like we tell you and everything will be great.

80% chance that it will go that way.

John Kerry, Biden’s ‘climate czar’ admits U.S. carbon dioxide emission cuts are pointless

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2021/04/25/john-kerry-bidens-climate-czar-admits-u-s-co2-emission-cuts-are-pointless/

Caught on video: John Kerry admitted U.S. CO2 emissions cuts are pointless at Joe Biden’s #LeadersClimateSummit.

Watch the video:

He also said essentially the same thing back in 2015:

“The fact is that even if every single American citizen biked to work, carpooled to school, used only solar panels to power their homes – if we each planted a dozen trees – if we somehow eliminated all of our domestic greenhouse gas emissions – guess what? That still wouldn’t be enough to offset the carbon pollution coming from the rest of the world. If all the industrialized nations went down to zero emissions – remember what I just said – all the industrial nations went down to zero emissions, it wouldn’t be enough – not when more than 65 percent of the world’s carbon pollution comes from the developing world.”

Reference for that statement:

metmike: How long can the Climate Accord scam go on?

Answer: As long as the gatekeepers/politicians, MSM and social media that control our information want it to. People don't look out their window and see climate change, like they do the weather. Weather forecasts from the local meteorologist get reconciled every day because we see the weather. Climate change is something we hear about on the news.

We believe whatever they tell us on climate change....after all they also told us that 97% of climate scientists agree with this............so it must be so.

The Climate Accord, we are told is the only chance to save the planet. How many people have actually read the Climate Accord and know the completely different rules for developed countries compared to undeveloped countries?

CO2 is well mixed in the global atmosphere.

For the climate accord to be authentic and really be intended to save the planet(if CO2 really was pollution), one has to assume that CO2 molecules from a rich country, like the US are........ killing the planet. While the CO2  emissions from a poor country, like China........... is greening the planet.

And that money, billions of it that flows from rich countries to poor countries is also saving the planet from climate change.

That's if you actually read the Climate Accord and still believe it's saving the planet.

China's emissions now exceed all the developed world's combined

https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/china-s-emissions-now-exceed-all-the-developed-world-s-combined-1.1599997

China now accounts for more greenhouse gas emissions than all of the world’s developed nations combined, according to new research from Rhodium Group.

Embedded Image

China’s emissions of six heat-trapping gases, including carbon dioxide

From the article: "The massive scale of China’s emissions highlights the importance of President Xi Jinping’s drive to peak carbon emissions before 2030"

metmike: Is much of the world completely brain dead on this? How can the position be that the US must drastically cut emissions down immediately to save the planet and at the same time, allow for China to continue to massively increase emissions like this for the next 9 years(CO2 is well mixed in the global atmosphere) and pretend that our cuts will be saving the planet?

China is planning to build more NEW coal burning power plants than the US even has in existence right now! Global emissions of CO2 under this Climate Accord Deal WILL go higher with absolute certainty!

The people with this position are not brain dead at all. They're actually very smart. Smart enough to trick much of the world into thinking that a climate optimum, with the best weather/climate in the last 1,000 years....is actually a climate crisis and that the beneficial gas, CO2.....is really pollution. ................the joke is on you world (-:

The hijacking of climate science to accomplish a political idealogy/agenda. Biggest scandal and corruption in science history happening right under our noses this very minute.

Sadly, this will continue because they have totally hijacked the scientific field and the entire MSM is on board. The gatekeepers have control of the information that you guys and most of the world are getting.

Not me.............I actually access the AUTHENTIC science and am an atmospheric scientist and interpret the REAL empirical data vs letting the gatekeepers tell me what it says.

Think that billions of people could not be bamboozled with a scam like this during the age of information?

How about they USED it, got control of the powerful information sources to perpetrate it.......so think again.

I actually like many of their global socialism reasons to do this to help the poor countries. I am REALLY REALLY  for helping the poor.  And for having a cleaner planet.............sadly, this diverts money away from where it could be used to actually clean the planet.

What outrages me, is that I am trying to educate people about authentic science(and other things), especially atmospheric science, my field of expertise and they are stealing people intelligence away by brainwashing them with junk science that contradicts my authentic science.  This is a crime!

It took over 30 years to for the junk science and never verifying, scary warning to be repeated over and over and over for it to finally end in the effective brainwash we have in 2021.

I watched them do it every step of the way.

They actually took the headline and date of this article below off the article earlier this year so it would not show up in peoples searches as easily. Seriously. I've been sending that article to people for 15 years and suddenly, it did not show up with the same search, using titles of articles.

Note............no more title for this article. I suspect the article itself may soon disappear too.

I added the original headline and date that was at the top of the original one below.....the last time that it was on there..............that they don't want you to know.

China: “renewable energy … intermittent and unstable, we must rely on a stable power source”

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2021/05/03/china-renewable-energy-intermittent-and-unstable-we-must-rely-on-a-stable-power-source/

h/t JoNova; CNBC; According to Su Wei, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Development and Reform Commission, renewable energy is too unreliable to power China.

China has ‘no other choice’ but to rely on coal power for now, official says

  • President Xi Jinping announced in September the country’s carbon emissions would begin to decline by 2030, and reach carbon neutrality by 2060 — in four decades.
  • In the meantime, policymakers are making clear that economic growth remains a top priority — and that growth depends largely on coal power.
  • “Because renewable energy (sources such as) wind and solar power are intermittent and unstable, we must rely on a stable power source,” said Su Wei, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Development and Reform Commission. “We have no other choice. For a period of time, we may need to use coal power as a point of flexible adjustment.”

Despite Pledges to Cut Emissions, China Goes on a Coal Spree

          https://e360.yale.edu/features/despite-pledges-to-cut-emissions-china-goes-on-a-coal-spree

"China is building large numbers of coal-fired power plants to drive its post-pandemic economy. The government has promised a CO2 emissions peak by 2030, but the new coal binge jeopardizes both China’s decarbonization plans and global efforts to tackle climate change."

metmike:

1. China has plans to build more new coal burning power plants than the US even has in right now.

2. CO2 is well mixed in the global atmosphere. The US can go to zero emissions and kill our energy efficiency and economy but global CO2 will continue to soar higher.

3. China is not dumb. Some sources in the US are trying to make out that China is going to destroy the planet with this selfish plan, based on not caring about our planet. No, China and India and some other countries that will continue to increase CO2 are the smart ones, using the truth and authentic science to base their decisions on.

4. They will do what's best China and they understand the climate science well..... They know that there is no climate crisis. They don't need to sell a fake crisis to  scare the people into agreeing to actions to advance towards socialism. They already have it in their country and they make the rules already and don't need to trick the people with fake science ruses like the West is doing to us.

5. The Biden administration is so out to lunch on this issue that it's extremely scary because they are basing our future on it. If they are able to carry thru with their Green New Deal plans, its a near 100% chance disaster on many fronts.............including the environment.

They are going to wreck the economy AND the environment to supposedly save the planet based on busted computer simulations of the atmosphere going out 100 years, using subjective, hand picked equations from really smart but very biased scientists...............sold to us as being skillful tools that we should plan our future on....................even as the evidence mounts, year after year for over 30 decades that they are too warm and NOT reliable.

We know that the models are not science. As the real world proves them too warm, instead of adjusting them cooler, to match up with the real world observations, they have been making them warmer............to match up with their use as a political tool to scare people so the ideological agenda can be supported.
