Schumer on Filibuster then and now

Other than the damage it would do to the process, it would be entertaining to watch the outrage from leftists in general and Schumer in particular when the pubs gain majority in both houses later this year and pass whatever they like under a simple majority.  Back to a "rubber stamp for dictatorship",  right Chucky?

Of course, both the "Voting Rights Act", a meta-constitutional effort ,  and the change to senate fillibuster rules have the proverbial snowballs chance

In 2005.

What Schumer said about the filibuster when the shoe was on the other foot (nypost.com)

“Bottom line is very simple: The ideologues in the Senate want to turn what the Founding Fathers called ‘the cooling saucer of democracy’ into the rubber stamp of dictatorship. We will not let them. They want, because they can’t get their way on every judge, to change the rules in mid-stream, to wash away 200 years of history. They want to make this country into a banana republic, where if you don’t get your way, you change the rules. Are we going to let them? It’ll be a doomsday for democracy if we do.”

Schumer eyes final reckoning over voting rights and filibuster rule (nbcnews.com)

"If the right to vote is the cornerstone of our democracy, then how can we in good conscience allow for a situation in which the Republican Party can debate and pass voter suppression laws at the State level with only a simple majority vote, but not allow the United States Senate to do the same?" Schumer said in Wednesday's letter. "In the coming days, we will most likely confront this sobering question — together."

Exactly right Tim!

Holding Schumer accountable  with the evidence/facts and showing that he's a big hipocrate(as are most politicians) that will accuse the other side of doing exactly what they did or do.

good day for America as the wacked out libs have been stopped on a couple fronts. First the vacc mandate and a vote for personal responsibility and  freedom.  Then came the Biden realization that no amount of pressure is going to change 2 dems minds on the filibuster. Yes the minority will have some say so in legislation. Good. And finally that shame of a "voting rights" bill is going no where. But Biden has released 120 health care aids from the armed services to  relieve the thousands who need help. That man knows a crisis ad how to help, just watch him go. Problem is old Jen Psaki comes right out after the mandate announcement a basically told big companies to go right ahead and ignore the supreme court

another positive late today as the idea is floated of the Repubs skipping the presidential debates, or as the better known crazy liberal hosted mock sessions created to be one sided clown shows. And hosts like Gwenn Iful and Chris Wallace fully proved that fact so what is the point of the R's showing up?

In the debate with Wallace as moderator, Trump shot himself in the foot with his extremely rude and disrespectful behavior. Nobody made him act that way.

The biggest problem with Chris Wallace is that he let Trump run over him.

Republicans and Democrats agree: Chris Wallace should never moderate a debate again

Such was the carnage that the commission that runs presidential debates said Wednesday it would change the formats of the next two presidential debates

You can keep repeating the same false narrative about Trump being the victim in that debate(to blame why Americans pinned a solid loss on him for his performance) when anybody with a few objective brain cells  that watched it can see that his out of control attacks on others with no restraint from Wallace. The American people watching  were the real victims and for Trump, it was all self inflicted damage....and he paid the just price for it on election day........even though over half of the republicans still insist that the election was stolen from him.

Same ones that think Wallace was picking on him.

Would be like the big school yard bully, after punching a little kid in the face, then punching the teacher in the face for trying to get in the way, then punching the school councilor in the face for trying to give him therapy...... then the bully's parents file a complaint against the school because they claim the school was treating their son unfairly by subjecting him to treatment that the other students were not subjected to.

There was a reason that Wallace had to interrupt Trump so many times mcfarm.

Wallace's biggest problem is that he let Trump run over him (and Biden) NOT the other way around, like you imagine because your sources tell you to think that(to blame Trumps big loss in that debate on that fake reason).

I wouldn't be surprised if Trump caused at least an additional 1 million people to vote "NOT Donald Trump" in the election from just listening to him that day.

Debate-watchers say Biden won first debate, but most felt "annoyed" — CBS News poll

Blaming this on Chris Wallace and supposedly the lib MSM out to get Trump is ludicrous mcfarm. Trump caused this entirely with his behavior.

maybe only one or 2 dems understand why it would be bad to change the filibuster.

a few years from now... when the pubs control congress and the WH, if there is no filibuster, then the dems would be the ones screaming the loudest about how they desperately want to have a filibuster.

sorry MM. I watched and listened and do not need you to tell me exactly what I heard and saw. Trump is Trump for sure but a moderator that acts like those two is not a moderator in any respect.
