As a former journalist and a political campaign director for both Democrats and Republicans, I believe that public servants are derelict in their duties if they refuse to face the press. I’m not alone: The White House Correspondents’ Association accused Biden in 2021 of lacking “accountability to the public.” And in June 2022, a group of White House reporters officially complained about Biden’s inaccessibility , accusing him of practices “antithetical” to the “concept of a free press,” noting that “every other president before Biden (including Trump) allowed full access to the very same spaces.”

1. Hiden Biden as he was known in 2020, when he spent so much time in his basement and blamed it on COVID(which was a brilliant strategy as the Ds exploited the NOT Donald Trump factor that's been winning them elections) can't be "hiden"  in a basement when he's the president.

However, if Biden ran in 2024, they would need to  try to minimize his encounters because its just too crystal clear that whoever he ran against will have much superior cognitive communication skills.

There are a few others that are good but some that they list as accomplishments, to me make him the WORST president in history. 

His crony capitalism policies funding the fake climate crisis and worst energy policies in history by an extremely wide margin, for instance.

His turning corrupt Zelensky into his puppet to have a war against Russia, killing hundreds of thousands, obliterating their country, causing global food and energy shortages hurting the worlds poor most. Actually, compare any speeches by other presidents to Biden.

Obama, Clinton, even Bush. Kennedy even Nixon. Gifted orators some to most of them.  Carter was an excellent communicator too but he stood out by actually taking actions based on ethics and doing the right thing, not words to bamboozle people to vote for him or for self serving, personal agenda. 

The ability to effectively communicate with charisma/charm, even if its bs is a key to being elected to the office of president.

The only exceptions to that have come recently when one side wins by NOT being the other person/side running against them.

 I noticed that you didn't mention LBJ in your list of those with oratory skills. I don't think that was an accident. Sominex LBJ was the perfect sleeping pill. He was so bad that Sominex sales went way down. I recall as a very little kid that when he came on TV, he was incredibly boring and usually put me to sleep. No POTUS including Biden has been nearly as boring since although neither Biden, Ford, nor Carter (we disagree though he had the biggest smile by far) were good imo. Reagan was easily the best and thus sales of Sominex were then the best since at least JFK.

I looked back and the last election was almost this bad but Trump is now slightly worse with less favorable and Biden modestly worse in both categories:

When you look at these near final poll numbers before the 2020 election below, realize again what I've stated numerous times here:

1. Trump had a higher unfavorable number than Biden in 2020. Many more millions of people, just like 2016  voted for NOT Donald Trump and NOT Joe Biden.

2. Unlike 2016, when Ds just stayed home because they  didn't like Clinton, especially compared to Obama, in 2020, they learned their lesson and on top of that, Ds and some Independents  really, really hated Donald Trump. Many millions that almost never vote came out to vote for NOT Donald Trump. He united the opposite party like no person ever has. Many Ds did not like Biden either but the last 2 elections were no longer decided based on a really likeable person.

The loser is determined by the one with the most people that vote AGAINST THEM not because they didn't get enough votes for them.

There were less votes against Joe Biden in 2020 and more votes against Donald Trump............many more.

People/Ds that stayed home in 2016 wasted their chance to use their vote AGAINST the one they disliked the most which would have beat Trump. The polls had Clinton winning but they didn't know millions would just stay home instead of voting for her.

In 2020, a record number of people voted because one of them was Donald Trump who stirs up emotions that cause people to act.......especially  the side that hates him.

Before 2016, this was completely unheard of! (other than Barry Goldwater in 1964).

Look at the graph below. In the past, it was the total opposite. The bottom half of the candidates below had at least double the favorable vs unfavorable rating. 

The bottom 8 had around a 4 times more favorable vs unfavorable opinion.  The bottom 3 were around 6 times more favorable vs unfavorable.

This is absolute proof of a monumental problem for US politics in this age!!!

So the obvious effective strategy much of the time  in recent years is to run negative ads to try to get you to hate the other person and NOT vote for them by choosing  the candidate who's running against the NOT  for them person!

I seriously would like to get comments about this from others. It seems to be a profoundly revealing negative fact about our politics and our world in 2023.

The last 6 candidates running against each other in the last 3 elections 2016-2020-2024(though I would bet it WON'T be those 2 in 2024) had higher UNfavorable ratings.

Other than Barry Goldwater in 1964,  before 2016, even the weakest candidate ever was +12 to the favorable side.

If things are the same in 2024, it means the last 3 presidential elections were won by a person that more people didn't like than that liked them(gave them a favorable rating)!!

I agree that it's shocking. I looked it up because I expected to see a difference from the past but to be honest, I was doing it to show why these 2 candidates won't be running in 2024 because of their negatives.

Instead the data identified a pattern in recent years of picking people just like this to run. I need some time to digest more data, contemplate and TRY TO discern in order to pinpoint what's causing this. 

I think that our candidates are clearly inferior by an extremely wide margin, which is the biggest reason but we might wonder, how in tarnation an inferior candidate can make it this far?

One thing that allows them to get that far is that in today's world, they get the most support from their side by saying things that their side wants to hear. They look to exploit every opportunity for political gain........to look good to the one side that votes for them. This often involves intentional confrontations with issues and members of the opposite party to demonstrate how true the R or D blood flowing thru their veins is. 

The internet and communications today has changed too. 40 years ago, we got all of our National news from ABC, CBS, NBC (local news) and the local paper. Those sources and politicians were constantly making a play for viewers/readers from both sides, so they were objective and said things that represented views from both sides more than today.  Most importantly, this was the case because there were almost no alternatives. If one of them decided to go for just the left or right, they would have been crushed by their competition that was drawing from the entire pool of Americans, not just a segment representing a specific political brand. 

Then the internet happened and the choices multiplied by the many thousands. The smartest ones, realizing that people are extremely easy to fool(note the billions on tv commercials that make even more money than they spend) and more importantly, will go to places that tell them what they want to hear........exploited these human weaknesses to create NICHES that offer the targets, a sort of political paradise. 

They always spin the news to one side. The difference between how people feel when hearing news that contradicts their belief system and news that confirms it is indisputably powerful. So they go to places that make them feel good. Almost everybody lines up or leans towards one side. 

The previous sources are getting killed right now and are having to sensationalize and adapt just to survive even while trying to be objective. 

However, they are becoming less and less relevant in this new age of communication that features more and more extremes, more and more DISinformation because DISinformation is tailor made to match up with what one side wants to believe. 

Politicians on the other hand are completely driven by what will get them the most votes(and money from sources, like the military industrial complex that floods legal bribes to them).

Being from one party or the other, they have been forced to adjust in order to play the new game that the media/communications industry has established for politics in order to maximize the support from their base. They say things that people from THEIR party want to hear. They do political stunts to get attention and intentionally  pick fights with the other side to prove to their side how tenaciously loyal they are in supporting the agenda of their perfect party and trying to steam roll the agenda of the other deeply flawed party. If they don't do that, other people in their party will and they will become obselete. In fact, many of the most extreme ones got to where they are by exploiting the dynamic of being extremely political. It's like being a sports fan for a particular team. Nothing is too extreme in the name of supporting your team and trashing the other team...........to fellow fans. 

Authentic facts no longer matter any more. Turns out, that the principle of going to places that tell you what you want to hear, also applies to fact checking. People don't fact check things if they represent items that they want to believe. 

Why would they? It's just a confirmation of what they think they know.

They will, however fact check/be skeptical of things that they don't want to believe.

But who would go to sites to be told the news they don't believe in so they can fact check them?

Just tune into Tucker or Hannity on weekday evenings and they do that for them. I use them because they're the most egregious. They frequently play clips from liberal media, like CNN or CNBC and obliterate the validity with what might be good points or even more often just their own fake facts.

Doing this constantly just amplifies the divisiveness intentionally. Us vs them mentality hour after hour every weekday evening on Fox. 

In a world where traditional media sources are dying because they have to compete with thousands of others in a world where being more extreme captures the most intention, Fox has capitalized by morphing into a more and more extreme entity that completely focuses on just one kind of viewer. 

So that's the background. 

Extreme divisiveness  between party's in our country right now. The process to determine the candidate for each party brings that out big time.

Each party determines who their candidate is with a series of primaries. This process is described below:

During that process, running negative ads to bash their opponent have become increasingly common and effective. I won't go into why that is in this dissertation (-:

At the end of the primary, each party will have 1 candidate, sometimes that just barely got the bid from their party and was exposed for having a lot of weaknesses by those running against them..

So there are some from their own party that would give them an unfavorable rating but they have to live with the choice because of the process. 

Those 2 run against each other in the general election, in a world that features almost everybody giving the person from the opposite party an unfavorable rating AND some of them giving their own candidate an unfavorable rating but they will vote for their person because they aren't the other person. 

This is why the strongest candidate for either party in 2020 and 2022 was NOT Donald Trump. 

In 2016, the winner was NOT Hillary Clinton. 

What could possibly change this?

Seriously, there isn't anything. The dynamic has only been getting worse.

The current state of the media using junk science, disinformation and propaganda is just too effective and enriching to the gatekeepers.

Too many  handsome dividends worth, many trillions of $ in realms like the fake climate crisis and the war in Ukraine for it to change. People that speak out get condemned and  trashed as deniers or evil because the brain washers control the dynamic completely. 

The ones that have the most  power to change it are the ones enriching themselves the most by exploiting it.

Maybe politicians are more dishonest necessarily  but they have been forced to adjust their positions and methods to be relevant to their own parties in 2023 compared to 1973. 

They are still trying to get the most votes like before. The world changed first, I think and they adjusted in order to keep getting the most votes.

Heat waves in some places are as much as 2 deg. F warmer. That summarizes much of the legit bad stuff  FOR HUMANS which is more than offset by the better stuff for life. 

But that doesn't matter in todays world. What matters is what you can get people to believe.........which is unlimited stuff!

 I think you mean MSNBC rather than CNBC. Personally, I've found MSNBC to be strong left but CNBC quite balanced based on both hosts and guests. That's why Shep Smith went there a few years ago. Also, charts that I've seen are similar with MSNBC well left but CNBC in the beautiful middle. I think this error has been made before due to getting them mixed up. Now if you truly do think CNBC is left, I disagree with you.

I'll make the correction and try to remember it. Part of it is that I actually don't watch them.

Mostly I watch ABC, CNN and Fox and the local news with regularity.......almost daily. 

Online, I will rarely look for a "go to" source. Much of the time, when there are numerous sources covering the same topic I will randomly pick one.

The only source that I do go to with great regularity is WUWT. At least several times a week.  I've posted hundreds of articles from them and its the only place, other than here that I post at.

However, I selectively pick articles that I agree with that make solid scientific  points and ignore those that I don't agree with. 

I also have 700 people on my chess email list. I post chess stuff, including  our practices, tournaments, educational products and so on.  I create weather threads here when severe weather threatens that are designed for everybody here but also targets  that group.

Biden has numerous symptoms that clearly point to him having organic brain deterioration with Alheimers or Dementia. The shuffling when he walks, taking small baby steps and with stiff knees. The cognitive issues we've witnessed hundreds of times.

But then, we heard from his doctor in February that this is all from the above reasons and he advised him to have physical therapy and engage in exercise.

Why didn't he address specifically the medicine treatment for his spinal arthritis? If it's causing such a big problem that we can all see, we are supposed to think that physical therapy is the treatment.

Why would the doctor recommend that? This is the president. He should be saying "the president is BEING TREATED WITH PHYSICAL THERAPY and anti inflammatories not still recommending it for whats obviously comprising his ability to walk fluidly and  its clearly getting worse. 

I might buy this if he's been getting treatment for the SIGNIFICANT arthritis in his back. 

I have significant arthritis in my back and have had 20 surgeries but my gait remains unaffected. That's because I don't have a degenerative brain disorder impacting my gait like Biden clearly has. 

They just made this reason up to cover for his advancing organic brain deterioration.

this is another blatant example of the dishonesty of Biden and those on his team. He even gets his doctor to lie for him.

1. Record inflation.........after he and his Fed Bozo insisted that it would be transient.

2. Fastest interest rate hikes ever from an incompetent Fed,  causing collapse in banks. Crushing the housing market and interest rate sensitive realms

War with Russia, because of him and the Military-Industrial complex controlling our US politicians like puppets with legal lobby money bribes as the strings. killing hundred of thousands, almost 1 trillion in damages to decimated Ukraine, 8 million displaced over 100 billion from US taxpayers that we can't afford. Potential nuclear war and WW3. Global inflation because of intentional and unintentional energy shortages and food shortages hurting the poor most. Blew up the Nordstream-2 pipeline to hurt Russia AND Europe/Germany for corrupt, self serving political interests.

4. On the verge of war with China. Balloon-gate, making this administration looks like fools.

5. Totally botching the major immigration crisis on the Southern Border. …making it worse, not better.

6. Escalating crisis with drug deaths, especially from fentanyl

7. Insisting on policies that will cost trillions to replace efficient REAL green energy fossil fuels that are greening the planet and boosting food production, replacing them  with anti environmental fake green energy schemes that are wrecking the planet with the raw materials mostly from China. Killing birds/bats and whales and ripping up the planet to get the raw materials for the landscaping eyesore wind turbines. Based on crony capitalism and political agenda that benefits the rich only as well as politicians. Hurts all the poor and wasting money that could be spent on real environmental issues or not spent at all to help manage the economy killing debt.

8. Completely manufacturing a fake climate crisis during the current climate optimum for life with constant lies about this being an existential threat much worse than all the REAL crisis's listed here. the current climate optimum and fossil fuels are actually benefiting the poor the mostis by increasing food and giving us cheap, abundant and reliable energy. Biden keeps promising that he will take that all away!

9. On the verge of defaulting on the debt with an almost inevitable national debt crisis from overspending that he refuses to address. His Feds interest rates hikes will add trillions to the debt this decade from the interest alone.

10. Responsible for the worst spending bill in history. Originally called the Climate Bill  but after inflation hit, laughably renamed the Inflation Reduction Act, while ironically being the biggest inflation CAUSING bill Ever. Hundreds of billions flushed down the toilet to destroy our wonderful energy producing and delivery system and replace it with energy that will greatly harm the economy and poor consumers the poor consumers the most. And do exactly 0 to impact the fake climate crisis that is actually a robust, authentic, scientific climate optimum for most life on the planet…including humans asdeaths from extreme weather are down 95% in the last century while the planet warmed up 1 deg. C.

11. Participated in extensive influence peddling schemes to generate millions of dollars for family members coming from foreign countries while VP.

12. Instead of fighting corruption in Ukraine, his job as VP, he's been exploiting the corruption. Initially using it to benefit his failing son, Hunter. Then to cause Zelensky to stop negotiations for peace with Russia and instead, host a Biden war between the US and Russia with the promise of getting into NATO and being protected by the omnipotent, all powerful United States if he does this. Note the ACTUAL results to Ukraine above.......much different than Corrupt Biden promised Zelensky to have his war.

13. colluding with the very corrupt US deep state/justice department to cover up Biden family unethical behavior.

14. Causing lost confidence from our allies and increasing tension with adversaries, some turning into enemies and banding together to do things like replace the US dollar as the global currency because we use it to punish countries that we have political disagreements with.

15. least qualified VP in history. Biden should be impeached but the replacement, though she stands for helping the less fortunate and is probably sincere which is a really good thing is in way over her head and naive as a an extreme lightweight while being used to apply agenda that is actually more damaging/counterproductive to her causes  and this country than helpful.

I think that all Americans totally understand the aging process and would never judge somebody with a disease/condition they can't control.
