America’s unique, enduring gun problem, explained

The factors that lead to tragedies like the Dadeville, Alabama, shooting are deeply ingrained in US politics, culture, and law.

Which types of firearms are most commonly used in gun murders in the U.S.?

In 2020, handguns were involved in 59% of the 13,620 U.S. gun murders and non-negligent manslaughters for which data is available, according to the FBI. Rifles – the category that includes guns sometimes referred to as “assault weapons” – were involved in 3% of firearm murders. Shotguns were involved in 1%. The remainder of gun homicides and non-negligent manslaughters (36%) involved other kinds of firearms or those classified as “type not stated.”

Great story, Jean.  Instead of the usual focusing on the negatives and maximizing the sensationalism which the media does for a living, they reported the kind acts of a wonderful person.

I'm certain that all this extreme negativety in story after story after story that bombards this younger generation daily is causing them to completely accept it as normal.

It doesn't take much of a leap for an unstable person to do what they've seen happening hundreds of times on their video screens.

If, instead of all this killing and hatred between political groups that disagree with each other, they were bombarded with stories about humans doing acts of kindness to help other people and they received messages teaching love, we could cut this down to a fraction of what's taking place.

Most experts seem to be at a loss to explain most of it, except to often blame everything on too many guns.

We have ourselves to blame. Even anti gun activists, with wonderful intentions are completely missing the boat.

The methods they often use to try to change the gun laws, often display bad examples of the mentality which is causing people to not respect other human beings.........which is so powerful in the minds of the ones using guns to kill other human beings.

Too many guns are a big factor  but the hatred  being taught in today's society is an even bigger one. Sadly, we don't have any leaders/role models to offset this.

It's impossible to imagine somebody like that in this age........but we should pray for it!

We need a person like this to lead us out of darkness.
