Follow-up: good news is that no escalation expected

The blackouts have become extreme. In some provinces, they last thirty hours — more than an entire day without power. Even in Havana, outages of twelve, fourteen, or eighteen hours have become common. It is a situation of extraordinary hardship, unlike anything we have experienced before.
But then, how does the doctor get to the hospital if there is no public transport? How does the nurse return home afterward? How do families cook if there is no electricity, no gas, and often no running water? Because when electricity collapses, the entire chain collapses with it. More than 80 percent of Cubans receive potable water from the tap, as one might say, but that water must be pumped. Without electricity, the pumps stop working.
Communications are affected as well. So too is cultural life, which in Cuba is extraordinarily vibrant and central to the social experience of the country.
And it pains me to say this as a Habanero, as a Cuban: today you walk through Havana and encounter an unsettling stillness. The avenues are empty. Hardly any cars move. Few people walk the streets.

As mentioned a dozen+ times here. The main reason that I voted for Donald Trump in November 2024 was because I actually believed he was the only one that could end the war in Ukraine quickly. Not in 24 hours as he insisted on the campaign trail but certainly within a few months. He clearly made an effort but the way that he went about it, turns out was exactly wrong.
Intentionally degrading and scolding Zelensky in front of a global audience in order to show boat the omnipotent Donald Trump and trying to get him to adulate Donald Trump like all of Trumps other minions sent the exact wrong message to Putin.
If you are for the people of Ukraine, you don't trash their leader in public. In private, sure but that was the worst tactic ever from Mr. Art of the Deal, if you are representing Ukraine and trying to pressure Russia (that has all the cards) to end the war. This was just being a bully against somebody much weaker and sending a message to Putin that Russia holds the cards and advantages, so why should he stop???
Making it much worse is that with the person he should have been talking tough to, Putin he acted nice to and when he reported their private conversations, his version was pretending to have control over Putin to make Donald Trump look good(which is always the top priority of Donald Trump). No way! Instead this just caused Putin to see Donald Trump as a big mouth clown and PUTIN (who is also a psychopath with delusions of grandeur) WAS NOT GOING TO LET A BIG MOUTH CLOWN CONVINCE THE WORLD THAT HE COULD CONTROL PUTIN!!!! If I was was a MLB agent for a weak player, Joe Zelensky of the NY Yankees being paid to get the best deal/contract from his team, I wouldn't lead off the negotiations with the team/owner/management by telling them that Joe Zelensky had to most strike outs in the league and Joe also committed the most errors when he was in the field. Then, bringing Joe Zelensky in and scolding him in front of the owner for even wanting to be a MLB player and telling the player he should be grateful to the agent for even agreeing to represent him because he doesn't deserve to be in the MLB let alone being on the NY Yankees.

The Ukraine war will end some day, maybe soon just based on Russia's Mt. Everest sized losses that continue to accumulate and can't be sustained forever. However, Donald Trump's unjustified war in Iran, with him lifting the sanctions on Russia's oil and Donald Trump's self inflicted worst global energy crisis in history, gave Putin an additional 50% for his oil, which has sadly and ironically helped Putin to finance his war LONGER than if anybody else was president of the United States.
