Thanks, Mike!

“Early on, the NCAA Tournament was considered a lesser event to the National Invitation Tournament, held in New York City. Teams could compete in both events until 1971 when the NCAA barred universities from playing in the NIT and other tournaments if they were invited to the Big Dance. In fact, in 1949-50 CCNY won both the NIT and the NCAA tournaments (beating Bradley both times).”

Thanks very much, Larry!

Every time I meant to post in this thread I got distracted and forgot about it.

Congrats UConn for making it to the championship game.

Great job by Illinois for making it to the final 4!

Their school is an elite powerhouse on the women's side too but had a tough loss yesterday:

South Carolina gets revenge on UConn in Final Four upset

With the loss, UConn's streak of 54 consecutive wins -- tied for the fourth-longest streak in NCAA Division I history -- was snapped, its bid for a repeat championship denied.

++++++++++++

But their women's team got some good news today:

Michigan didn't just beat Arizona. They decimated them. It was never even close.

Takeaways From Michigan's Dominant Final Four Win Over Arizona

The Wolverines were clearly the superior team here.

As a graduate from Ann Arbor Michigan well over 4 decades ago (Atmospheric and Oceanic Science)  it's an automatic to cheer for them, even when they are underdogs.

However, this is the most dominant team in any sport that I follow that they've had in my lifetime.

The best part this year is that our grandson, Gibi who is a HUGE Michigan fan is going to the championship game on Monday with his dad, our wonderful son in law, Jovan.

Jovan is from Chicago and was rooting for Illinois to make the finals, along with Michigan to make it a Big Ten Team Championship.

Thanks very much!!!

My son in law and our grandson, Gibi were at the game.

Gibi is a huge Michigan fan since his grandpa graduated from there. This is so sweet!
