Larry,
I found that link is especially profound. Not the actual topic and what I strongly agree with from this person but the comments below it.
So many people demonstrating insane divisiveness. Using offensive manners to communicate blind/tunnel vision, uninformed, disrespectful, personal attacks against people that they disagree with.
I guess you have to get on twitter/x to see that.

I usually would copy the stuff directly here but have a pretty iron clad policy of NOT copying foul language and stuff that offensive here because I regularly link our weather threads to all the families in our chess program and all the teachers at their schools, 3 of which are elementary schools, where I'm a chess coach.
I personally would never communicate that way but don't even want it posted from other sources on a forum that I own which should align with the mindset of somebody teaching positive things to young people.
We are all adults here, of course but our behavior is indicative of who we are. It sounds like I'm judging people like that but in my heart, I feel sorry for them and wish I could help by letting them experience being me for a couple of days to understand that its possible to set ourselves free.......free of hatred of political opponents, free of antisemitism, free of homophobia, racism, misogyny. Experience how good it feels to be attacked personally and NOT be offended and NOT feel the need to hurt the other person back because they hurt us. How good it feels to stay on the high road when another person is trying to drag you down to the low road. The low road always stinks for both sides, even if 1 person is exploiting their advantages on the low road to win a battle.
Anyways, it's sad to observe behavior like this but best to use it as an example of how NOT to be and provide examples of how TO be!
Hate(and love)

I actually read this entire thread below over again. Larry, who is a wonderful, devout Jewish man and I were having some disagreements on our PERSONAL views on the history of antisemitism and the impact today. We agree on the the most important aspects of this and almost everything here at MarketForum. We totally respected each other, including differences and communicated the differences in a manner that stayed constantly on the high road even while not being able to fully embrace each others position in its entirety.
This is why I use it as an example of how to disagree with somebody ON THIS TOPIC using integrity(while strongly agreeing on most things).
Antisemitism is WRONG!

7am Sunday:
Sometimes I forget to make the most important point of all in a post. For me, the personal reason that I especially cherished that thread is what I learned from the civil discourse of a person with a different background sharing his perspective. I really had no clue about Henry Ford's antisemitic past. I grew up in Dearborn MI, where Ford Motor Company provided the majority of jobs, billions in taxes and blessed our city with incredible benefits. Dad was an Industrial Engineer for Ford Motor and people in the community revered Henry Ford. On the other hand, I went to Catholic School and was taught that today's Jewish people are the ancestors of God's chosen people, the Israelite's. While at the same time, the Arab's (who were different than us) that are now the majority in Dearborn, were just beginning to expand, which resulted in some Islamophobia from the white Christian majority.
At the same time, the mayor of Dearborn, Mayor Hubbard from 1942 to 1978 (the Dictator from Dearborn) was a very outspoken racist but thanks to billions from Ford Motor and Hubbard's using it to give residents what no other cities, anywhere had he was beloved by most resident and was elected for 15 consecutive terms.

So I knew all the bad stuff about Hubbard, being raised in a family with a dad that was active in the civil rights movement but had no clue about Henry Ford's past related to his antisemitism and in fact, was raised to put Henry Ford on a pedestal. I still appreciate everything that he did but see a different (VERY negative) side to him also, while dialing in the time frame.
Thank you Larry/WxFollower for sharing the perspective of a Jewish man to enhance my own perspective!
