One reason this heat wave will feel especially impactful is that it's early in the Summer and following a very cool period so we're not acclimated to hot/humid weather yet!

A temperature of 96 deg. F, along with a dew point of 76 deg. F equates to a heat index of 110 deg. F. This is the temperature that it feels like and how the body responds.

At what humidity level does heat become dangerous?

There is no single threshold — it depends on the combination of temperature and humidity, expressed as the heat index. The NWS issues heat advisories when the heat index reaches 105°F and excessive heat warnings at 110°F+.

metmike: Next week, starting Monday in Evansville, IN for instance, look for the NWS to issue AT LEAST a heat advisory every day and on some days, especially late in the week an excessive heat warning!
