There are 3 things to take away from this.
1. The ones holding this up are Rs not beholden to Donald Trump or afraid of him like the rest of the Rs because they will not be on the ballet in November. They didn't get the nomination for the R party because Donald Trump TELLS the R voters(mostly MAGA) who to vote for and he told them NOT to nominate these guys earlier this year. Extraordinarily sad but true.
2. The fact that the White House won't agree to put this request in writing and only take Todd Blanch's word for it (his word and Trump's are mud) tells us that Donald Trump still plans to pursue this:

3. The White House and Rs have nothing to lose? Even with no confirmation, Todd Blanch WILL remain as the acting attorney general indefinitely.........as long as Trump wants him there. However, after the election there is a chance that the Senate could have more Ds and make it even harder to confirm Blanch. But then, Trump can just keep Blanch as the ACTING attorney general for X amount of time.
There is absolute certainty in these 2 items and they will only be getting worse!

Makes no difference to Donald Trump who doesn't honor verbal or written agreements.
And he will never get the chance to impose this after the Ds take over the House and start their impeachment investigation that gives the world jaw dropping, excessive evidence needed to impeach Donald Trump.
After he is impeached in the House, which is a done deal, the only question is whether Rs in the Senate want to start the healing for their party by removing him with 15-20 R votes in order to achieve the 2/3rd majority to impeach and remove him.
And finally escape the total control that he has over them.

Nobody can predict what Donald Trump will do in the future, sometimes not even tomorrow and often he doesn't even know what he will be doing and in the vast majority of cases, he is lying about whatever it is he is speaking about.
However, he blatantly telegraphs what he is really thinking if you just apply common sense and understand why he is lying.
In this case, it's clear that he put up so much resistance to what should have been dead on arrival issue because he totally intends to abuse his power at the right time to impose this compensation fund that also protects the Trump family. Every single comment about why it's justified from day 1 to today. Anybody that understands Trumpese knows that if he thinks something is justified or unjustified and tells us about it over and over and over, that he's not accepted it and Donald Trump does everything in his power, no matter the illegality or opposition or damage to others, including his own party to impose an agenda that his diseased brain becomes pathologically fixated on.
This is one of those!

Rand Paul, I strongly believe deserves his job for the right reasons but she is one of the few others in Congress that I respect
I am pretty confident too that if she is re elected in November, she will vote to impeach Donald Trump despite being an R.
The Senate will get that opportunity after the Ds in Congress vote to impeach Donald Trump with 99.9% confidence.
The only way that doesn't happen is if Donald Trump is no longer in office, which I hope doesn't happen. He needs to be there long enough to get what his legacy deserves!
Impeachment AND REMOVAL!
I'm at greater than 50% chance for that to happen but it all depends on 15+ Rs in the Senate voting for impeachment. That's a mighty task and expectation from people that have been controlled by him and greatly fear him.
However, it will be their chance to break free and start the healing of their party. The problem is that the ones in there that were backed by Trump may feel they owe allegiance to him.
