GOP has become the greatest threat to American democracy since the Civil War

The transformation of the Republican party from a recognizable centre-right conservative political party to what it has become under Donald Trump began a half century ago.

It started with Richard Nixon’s “Southern Strategy” to break the old Democratic “solid South” by capturing white voters angered by the Civil Rights movement and the passage of the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts.

I think it's a typo.   What he meant to say was that the GOP is the biggest threat to DEMOCRATS since the civil war. That's the war were the dems fought  to keep slavery.

This war is being fought at the ballot box (ignoring idiocies like ANTIFA and What not) , and the dems are still fighting to keep the minorities on the "plantation".  Appears they are on the losing side again.

Stacey Abrams?  She has a huge problem with using written law to disenfranchise ineligible voters.  They are, after all, a major block of support for leftist ideology and excluding them makes victory, particularly in a state like Ga, very difficult.  She's threatening to file a lawsuit to change all that.  I hope she does.  It will shed a very public spotlight on the facts of this case.  But,  I suspect she knows that so the law suit will likely remain a threat.  As we've seen in so many recent cases, Dems prefer unsubstantiated doubt. Works far better for them than actual facts.

Displays and actions like hers are exactly why dems continue their slide into obscurity.

With the ascension of The Rump, the Republikkkon party has become an all inclusive & diverse party.

They now openly & unabashedly welcome & include white nationalists, the KKK, Nazis & fascists into the tent.

And of course, the fact that baseless nonsensical comments like these are no longer limited to the fringe leftists,  but become more mainstream all the time, helps many more to see the dem party for just what it is becoming.

Keep up the good work MOJO,   you and yours generate more votes for pubs than just about anything/anyone else.

It must be working because we won back the House.

Over the last 10 years, the dem party has lost ground in governorships (roughly 2/3rd pub at this time), state houses, (again roughly 2/3 pub), the house and the senate, the presidency and incidentally, the judicial at all levels.

In a midterm, with an extremely unpopular opposition president, dems gained a small, and quite possibly temporary majority in the house while losing further in the senate.   This, in a midterm that should have resulted in the blue wave (or was it tsunami?) that you dreamed about for a year.

But what the heck.  It's certainly not in my best interest to try to convince you of the err in your ways.  So,  by all means, keep on truckin!!!  You got this.  You're all over it :-)

330 state seats flipped from GOP to Dems.

7 Governor seats flipped.

The house saw 7% vote margin for Dems, which bested the Tea Party wave in 2010.  The only difference was GOP gerrymandering, and that will change a bit going forward.

It was a blue wave, but not a blue tsunami.

Yes, a healthy much-needed correction to the trend.

Those here who actually trade can comprehend that.
