More than 10,000 gun deaths a year results in Executive declaration and tightening of gun laws.

Future of our planet in jeopardy through man made global warming.  Close all coal plants!

Seriously though.   Do any of the Trump supporters actually think this is a national emergency?

What then is NOT a national emergency???

"Future of our planet in jeopardy through man made global warming"

I have showed you proof of the exact opposite happening with dozens of links and data.

Life on this planet has been treated to the best weather and climate since the Medieval Warm Period, that was this warm 1,000 years ago.  For Pete's sake, the planet is GREENING up, polar bear numbers are greatly increasing.

For the last million years, life has always done better when the temperature was a few degrees warmer than this.

That's why life migrates south in the Winter, or hibernates or goes dormant because COLD KILLS. Warmth causes life to flourish. In addition, the warmer atmosphere is increasing rains and decreasing global drought. .......and warming the coldest places the most, tropics the least.

CO2 is a beneficial gas.

There's only 1 place where dangerous warming exists..............computers programmed to simulate the atmosphere using mathematical equations to represent a busted theory, projected out for the next 100 years.......which isn't being adjusted down to the real warming or observations...........that continues to be mostly beneficial.

Democrats respond to Trump's national emergency declaration by calling for executive action to address gun violence and climate change

https://www.businessinsider.com/democrats-call-for-national-emergencies-on-guns-and-climate-change-2019-2

Declaring a climate emergency for the best climate ever, would be like Trump declaring a border emergency............if all the illegal immigrants in the US were fleeing our country and illegal drugs in our country were going back to Mexico via the southern border and he wanted to put up a barrier to keep them in.

There is ZERO data anywhere that shows a climate crisis outside of global computer models projections that have all been wrong and too warm.

The warming and increase in CO2 have been beneficial. Drugs, crime and illegal immigration is NOT beneficial.

On guns, you can make a case but obviously, the intent is not to have a legit case based on facts, it's to make a farce and battle out of it  because climate change is the opposite of a crisis.

If you want to do whats best for most life on this planet, we should be continuing to increase CO2 even faster!

For those that don't know me, I've been an atmospheric scientist for 37 years, as an operational meteorologist forecasting weather that entire time and studying climate for the past 20 years.

I didn't expect you to answer my question.  But will any Trump supporters answer my question?

Do you actually think the wall issue is a national emergency?  40 year lows in illegal immigration.

joj,

Carl made a great point on this earlier. I don't think the immigration issue is a National Emergency based on the legal definition that the president must abide by.

I think the one element regarding this being a potential national emergency is related to the Fentanyl. Tens of thousands of deaths/year and increasing exponentially with 17% coming from Mexico. 68% comes from China.

I realize most of it would not be stopped with a barrier/wall at our southern border but that would be the only legit element that has massively changed that would justify this being a National Emergency here in 2019.

Actually, I think that you will agree strongly that the fentanyl death issue IS a National Emergency.......possibly the biggest one we have right now which is exploding out of control. Question is, what's the best way to address that National Emergency.

If we can cut the deaths by just a 3-4% with some aggresive actions  that would save over 1,000 American lives/year!

I don't know if a wall would help that much............it might or might not but it would help some.

Overdose death rates

metmike,

I agree with you by and large.  I think fentanyl is a national crisis.  I think you also save lives by spending the money on more border agents, judges, etc... Additionally, as you alluded to, the legal ports of entry are where 90% of the fentanyl is getting through, which suggests money well spent there.   Recently the biggest fentanyl bust ever was done at a legal port of entry.  So personally, I am open to all of the above, but Dems have a majority in the house and that matters.

Yes, it means almost everything on many issues, obviously this one.

At least we aren't seeing another government shut down!
