This morning, I was watching this video, which claims that anti-Semitic and anti-Christian attacks have risen rapidly in France. Just recently, a church was set on fire.

... and, what 'ya know, just right now it is reported that Notre Dame in Paris is on fire. Notre Dame is one of the most visited cathedrals in Europe and contains numerous precious ancient artifacts.

Sad to see this building burning.

Incredibly, the media decided to make Trump a part of this story too, editorializing on his comments vs just reporting them.

Politics

   From the Washington Post:

French civil defense pans Trump’s ‘flying water tankers’ suggestion for putting out Notre Dame Cathedral fire

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/french-civil-defense-pans-trumps-flying-water-tankers-suggestion-for-putting-out-notre-dame-cathedral-fire/2019/04/15/5545dc24-5fc4-11e9-bfad-36a7eb36cb60_story.html?utm_term=.115108cfd2e2

And the picture that accompanies the story.........no, not a picture of the fire or this building but a picture of this:

French civil defense pans Trump’s ‘flying water tankers’ suggestion for putting out Notre Dame Cathedral fire

Macron Pledges To Rebuild Notre Dame Cathedral “Because It Is, In Deepest Sense, Our Destiny”

https://deadline.com/2019/04/paris-notre-dame-cathedral-on-fire-1202596140/

"Earlier in the day, Trump tweeted,  “So horrible to watch the massive fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Perhaps flying water tankers could be used to put it out. Must act quickly!”

But French authorities said dumping massive amounts of water from air could lead to collapse of entire structure.

More appropriately(letting us know that Trump's comments were inappropriate), First Lady Melania Trump tweeted, ” My heart breaks for the people of Paris after seeing the fire at Notre Dame Cathedral. Praying for everyone’s safety.”

Of course we know that Trump is blatantly open and hostile when it comes to his descriptions of the MSM and expresses these opinions frequently. It's not a surprize that they dislike him..............but until recently, this would be a shock that it would cause them to abandoned their obligation to their readers/viewers of providing objective jounalism in order to try to convince those people to also hate the man that they hate so much...... at every opportunity.

They are not all like this but several have made it their mission. ........and are actually earning every bit of what Trump accuses them of.

No matter when, where, or what the occasion, never miss an opportunity to bash and discredit Trump.

Is it so bad that they are actually the enemy of the people?

Well, Trump was elected by the people and we can agree that the MSN are the enemies of Trump and vice versa.

Maybe I should just stick to the fake climate crisis scene as an atmospheric scientist and ignore stuff like this.

During an interview with Fox, a French official stated his belief that this was not an "accident", since churches are being desecrated on a weekly basis in France. However, the Fox commentator did not him continue on this path of conversation

Thanks Gunter,

Great job by shephard smith.

They should be able to tell us what started this fire pretty soon.

Speculating now and being wrong can hurt everybody on both sides....... False accusers and those falsely accused.

Waiting a few days to get it right only hurts entities that are at fault and preserves integrity of professional reporters/anchors like Smith.

Hi metmike,

As you pointed out, it was wise of S Smith to hold off on conspiracy-theory-like conclusions, until the facts are in.

Yet, as Lou Dobbs pointed out..... the French government ruled out "arson", before an investigation even started..... and their reasons are obvious.

It is my personal belief that this fire was indeed an accident (with all this ancient wood in the upper structure)..... however, if it was not an accident, but arson, the government would never admit it.

I'm thinking the contractor would be required to bond and show proof of liability insurance just as they do in this country.

The contractor will have insurance. But it won't be a billion dollar policy
