"Americans say fake news causes significant harm to the nation and must be stopped"

metmike: Some(national) media are no longer objective, professional journalists and have turned into radical political activists with enormous power that sell fake news to impose their belief system on people. An increasing majority of people are becoming aware of this, the scandal/biggest crisis of the last few decades. This defines politics.

"'Made-up news' a bigger problem than terrorism, illegal immigration and racism: Pew poll"

https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2019/jun/5/fake-news-a-bigger-problem-than-terrorism-illegal-/

"President Trump has a problem with “fake news,” a handy term he coined to cover misleading or manipulative media reports and news stories that have been profoundly biased against him and his administration.

Americans also have a problem with this phenomenon, according to a major Pew Research Center poll released Wednesday.

“Many Americans say the creation and spread of made-up news and information is causing significant harm to the nation and needs to be stopped,” the pollster said.

“More Americans view made-up news as a very big problem for the country than identify terrorism, illegal immigration, racism and sexism that way. Additionally, nearly seven-in-ten U.S. adults (68%) say made-up news and information greatly impacts Americans’ confidence in government institutions, and roughly half (54%) say it is having a major impact on our confidence in each other,” the researchers said.

First Amendment issues don’t seem to enter in on the thinking here. The poll found that eight-out-of-10 respondents say steps should be taken to restrict fake news, while only 20% felt that it should be protected communication."

This appears to be a good example of twisting the story line to make them look like the good guys or knights in white shining armor........a form of fake news they are using to mislead about a story about fake news.

Here's how the source, a journalism entity titles the story:

"Survey: Americans mostly blame politicians for fake news, think journalists are responsible for fixing"

https://abc7news.com/politics/survey-americans-think-fake-news-is-big-problem/5333426/

Like, it's all the politicians fault(Trump) and only the trustworthy media can save us from these(this) scoundrels.

But if you read the summary of the actual report, we get this:

"Republicans are more likely than Democrats to see made-up information, to think it's a big problem and also to blame journalists for it."

So, yes journalists should be responsible for fixing it............by stopping their creation and reporting of fake news for accomplishing their political agenda.

Since the majority of the MSN leans liberal, we know what side the fake news is designed to appeal to. Fox is just one but powerful station and their fake news favors the other side.

cliff,

I strongly agree and have always stated that Trump has made more verifiable exaggerated and sometimes false things while embellishing more than any other president in history to promote his administration. This  defines his worst character flaw.

However, your fact checker defines the other sides abuse of twisting everything to make statements of Trumps that might be 95% true and his embellishment to lop on another 5% turn it.............in their opinion into being false.

Or to turn something that is an opinion of his..........into fake news because their opinion is different.

Here's an example:

Apr 26 2019

“NAFTA is one of the worst trade deals ever signed in the history of our country.” "Repeated 92 times"

Topic: Trade

Source: Campaign rally

So Trump feels NAFTA was a very bad deal and that opinion means he is making a false claim 92 times.

Apr 26 2019

“We should have had healthcare, but one man decided to vote against us at the last moment. Even though he campaigned for eight years, repeal and replace.”

Repeated 42 times

This is about McCain and is almost entirely true. McCain campaigned on repealing Obama Care for years, of course it wasn't 8 years but he did completely change his vote to the opposite of the one he campaigned on to  block Trump from being able to do it, because of his vindictiveness and hatred for Trump. Personally, for me this greatly tarnished what was a brave war hero's early career and his life of serving  the American people up to that point because he blatantly betrayed them at the end  for personal reasons.

My personal favorite by them:

Apr 26 2019

“I also ended up another one, you know, the great Paris Accord....Saved a lot of money, saved a lot of jobs, saved a lot of businesses.”

Repeated 19 times

metmike: He could have added "saved us from the greatest scientific fraud in the history of the world that would have cost the United states hundreds of billions in cash and trillions in economic damage  and done absolutely nothing to affect climate" and been 100% correct.............so he understated the significance and Fact Checker is completely wrong on this one.

This decision by Trumps, in my opinion(based on nothing but authentic facts and empirical data)  as an atmospheric scientist, is one of the smartest decisions made by a president in history........but Fact Checker twists it into Trump's "fake news" 19 times.   THAT is fake news from Fact Checker.

On most of the other stuff......they are right because Trump has his numbers wrong or is exaggerating.

Let's be finished with hearings and investigations and get on with the indictments and ultimate imprisonment of those that have actively been engaged in acts contrary to the welfare of the United States.   The laws covering sedition, treason, aiding and abetting the enemy, and the Logan Act, have been shattered so many times that one could write volumes about it.  No more talk...let's see some action on the part of the D o J.

The quintessential example of fake political news has been coming from all the democrats about the economy recently:

Obama Is 'Making Stuff Up' About The Trump Economic Boom

Biden Tries to Take Credit for Trump’s Accomplishments

https://www.lifezette.com/2019/05/biden-tries-to-take-full-credit-for-trumps-economic-accomplishments/

"Former Vice President and 2020 Democratic candidate Joe Biden took full credit on Saturday for the positive United States economy we’re currently experiencing.

"He even claimed President Donald Trump was “squandering” the success of “the Obama-Biden administration.”
