Hope this isn't fake news.

It came from a Fox News article.

Let's watch how the Libs spin this into negative territory.

Sheesh!

No ,really,let's watch this.

John

I freakin' forgot to paste the article-brilliant me!

"I am pleased to inform you that The United States of America has reached a signed agreement with Mexico. The Tariffs scheduled to be implemented by the U.S. on Monday, against Mexico, are hereby indefinitely suspended," he said. "Mexico, in turn, has agreed to take strong measures to....stem the tide of Migration through Mexico, and to our Southern Border. This is being done to greatly reduce, or eliminate, Illegal Immigration coming from Mexico and into the United States. Details of the agreement will be released shortly by the State Department. Thank you!"

This by our president Mr Donald Trump

As part of ongoing negotiations to avoid the tariffs President Trump threatened last week, Mexican officials have offered to deploy 6,000 national guard troops to their border with Guatemala to stem the flow of Central American migrants traveling through Mexico to the U.S.

Thanks John for tipping us off. It's not fake news:

US makes deal with Mexico on tariffs, immigration, Trump announces

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/us-makes-deal-with-mexico-on-tariffs-immigration-trump-announces

The U.S. has reached an agreement with Mexico that heads off the start of tariffs on Monday.

The deal, announced by President Trump via tweet on Friday night, is said to include plans to return migrants seeking asylum to Mexico, where they will remain until their claims can be processed.

Thank you!"

Some Democrats responded with ire even in the wake of the new deal. One was 2020 presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke:

                     Beto O'Rourke                    @BetoORourke

The damage of Trump's reckless trade policies and tariffs has already been done. What we see is yet another example of him trying to be both the arsonist who created this problem in the first place and the firefighter who wants credit for addressing it. https://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2019/06/08/trump-mexico-agreement-tariff-deadline-ac360-vpx.cnn …

Trump drops his Mexico tariff threat after reaching immigration enforcement deal

https://www.cnn.com/2019/06/07/politics/trump-tariffs-mexico-mike-pence/index.html

"Trump's assertion was met with derision from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who has crossed swords with the President repeatedly over immigration -- particularly over Trump's demands for money to build a border wall, which triggered a record-long government shutdown last fall.

Late Friday, the New York Democrat tweeted: "This is an historic night! @realDonaldTrump has announced that he has cut a deal to 'greatly reduce, or eliminate, Illegal Immigration coming from Mexico and into the United States.' Now that that problem is solved, I'm sure we won't be hearing any more about it in the future."

"The State Department said in a statement that as part of the agreement, Mexico will take "unprecedented steps" to increase enforcement to curb irregular migration, including the deployment of its National Guard throughout the country -- giving priority to Mexico's southern border.

The countries also agreed that individuals caught crossing into the US from Mexico seeking asylum will be "rapidly returned" to Mexico where they will await consideration of their asylum claims. Mexico, the declaration says, will authorize the entrance of all of those individuals. Mexico says it will offer jobs, health care and education to those people. In return, the US must expedite the asylum adjudication process.

The declaration also reiterates the countries' commitment from last year, which emphasizes US support for development in Central America and southern Mexico.

However, the agreement does not include requiring asylum seekers to first apply for asylum in the US while in Mexico.

While the US got what it wanted from Mexico in terms of border enforcement and breaking up trafficking networks, the US did not get Mexico to agree to have asylum seekers from Central America face asylum proceedings in Mexico or the first country they cross through, rather than in the US.

Discussions will continue and the two countries may announce further efforts within the next 90 days if necessary, the statement said."

Why would this not be celebrated as wonderful news by every American?

Why is every comment from every Democrat taking it as just the opposite?

This one below is funny:

House Democrats vow to block imposition of tariffs on Mexican goods

Trump made the deal before they could stop him from making the deal by taking away his ability to use tariffs as a bargaining tool.

A completely unconventional abuse of tariffs with extremely positive results. No other way to look at this than as a "Win-Win".  I think we can expect a continued equities rally next week.

A great example of why a business man, even a wildly unpopular one, can do good things in office even when faced with dogmatic opposition. This is called "thinking outside the box" to maximize  the use of available resources.

PS:  Tomorrows Meet The Press  is a must see.  The spin efforts will be epically entertaining.

Time will tell.

I hope things improve, but the reasons they are leaving haven’t changed.

They still have the same reasons for leaving and I don't blame them one bit for trying.

But the reality is, we are over capacity and can't function as the soup kitchen for the entire world.

We can accept some legally, but 10's of thousands sneaking in unchecked will eventually make this country look a lot like the ones they're fleeing.

Actually.............they have changed profoundly with this.

They would not be leaving a hell hole for another, possibly almost as  bad hell hole. They are leaving the hell hole and traveling thousands of miles and leaving everything they ever had(which isn't much but includes family and everything they know) to come to the land of milk and honey..............jobs, good medical care, government that takes care of them............a place where, even the poorest are doing better than they were.

They and those before them have known all year that they can just walk across the southern Mexico border, cross Mexico, then walk across the US border and they are in like Flynn!

If they know this path is no longer available and the NEW outcome is living in another hell hole without your family and whatever you had back home...............much of the incentive is taken away.

Let's put it another way.

If the United States of America never existed or conditions here were similar to Central America or Mexico,. almost all of these people would have stayed in Central America and  accepted their existance.

If the United State of America doesn't have open borders to let them all in.....................it's the same thing.

Hillarous and predictable spin by the NYT!

Mexico Agreed to Take Border Actions Months Before Trump Announced Tariff Deal

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/08/us/politics/trump-mexico-deal-tariffs.html

"Mr. Trump hailed the agreement anyway on Saturday, writing on Twitter: “Everyone very excited about the new deal with Mexico!” He thanked the president of Mexico for “working so long and hard” on a plan to reduce the surge of migration into the United States."

"It was unclear whether Mr. Trump believed that the agreement truly represented new and broader concessions, or whether the president understood the limits of the deal but accepted it as a face-saving way to escape from the political and economic consequences of imposing tariffs on Mexico

After nine days of uncertainty, Mr. Trump backed down and accepted Mexico’s promises.

Mr. Trump’s decision to use trade as a bludgeon against Mexico was driven in part by his obsession with stopping what he falsely calls an invasion of the country and in part by a desire to satisfy his core supporters, many of who have grown angry at his inability to build his promised border wall."

metmike: But never mind this buried in the story:  "Their promise to deploy up to 6,000 national guard troops was larger than their previous pledge. And the Mexican agreement to accelerate the Migrant Protection Protocols could help reduce what Mr. Trump calls “catch and release” of migrants in the United States by giving the country a greater ability to make asylum-seekers wait in Mexico."

Which they immediately negate with this following paragraph:

"But there remains deep skepticism among some American officials — and even Mr. Trump himself — about whether the Mexicans have agreed to do enough, whether they will follow through on their promises, and whether, even if they do, that will reduce the flow of migrants at the southwestern border."

metmike: So according to the NYT, there already was an agreement with Mexico to do all these things and Trump pretended like there wasn't and that this was all brand new so that he could use the old agreement to save face about his horrible decision to impose tariffs and make himself look good and to save face because his supporters are all getting upset with HIM because he isn't giving them the wall that he promised(dugh-it's not him that's preventing the wall from being built-let's check-mcfarm, is the NYT correct that you Trump supporters are getting angry at Trump because he hasn't built the promised wall?)

If that was the case, then why didn't the NYT tell us about the old agreement before this and why hasn't Mexico been honoring that old agreement?

Even if they made unfulfilled  promises before, this clearly puts pressure on them to honor the old deal terms and this clearly has added some additional new deal contributions that Mexico will be helping us with. One has to be blinded by hate and bias to not see the obvious and its sad to see journalism at what, used to be a highly respected paper turn into political activism intended to destroy the president of the United States.
