Divergent thinking typically occurs in a spontaneous, free-flowing, "non-linear" manner, such that many ideas are generated in an emergent cognitive fashion.

By contrast, convergent thinking follows a particular set of logical steps to arrive at one solution, which in some cases is a "correct" solution.

Wonderful answer and explanation.

One can make a case for Trump to be a very divergent thinker.

Imposing the threat of a tariff on Mexico(not considered by anyone previously as an acceptable strategy) to get them to help us with our southern border crisis is without question an example and it.

The  China tariff's are another example of using political strategies to accomplish objectives which no recent presidents would have ever considered.

Some democrats and MSM, however describe it as him acting like he thinks that he's king.

Any political philosophy is perfect in a given moment...but moments are fleeting.
