The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now helping to probe the deaths of three Americans who perished under mysterious circumstances in a five-day span at neighboring resorts in the Dominican Republic, officials said Tuesday.

‘Big Papi’ David Ortiz back in Boston after being shot in Dominican Republic. (what does he know?)

Another example of two true events, unrelated, which create fake news when posted together.

Of course you know how much I agree with this already carl.

I think that often, people see these sort of things thru an emotional window.

Not to  ignore the rare situations when there are correlations in events or deaths for legit reasons but with those rare situations, there is usually authentic evidence that clearly makes the connections clear vs just speculation and coincidence that cause an assumption before any evidence comes forth to tie them together.

This is what messes it up for our minds. Once we assume something or are convinced of something, it takes 10 times the information to convince us that we are wrong.

    Cognitive Biases

Funny thing about cognitive bias. It's really easy to recognize in everybody else that disagrees with us. Almost by definition, we would not see it in ourselves because recognizing our own bias, usually results in an adjustment(s) in our thinking that manage that bias and cause us to be much more objective and not suffer as much from the bias.
