1981 – The Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk, the first operational aircraft initially designed around stealth technology, makes its first flight.

We had to be stealthy around the plant, too.  In conversations about it, we had to refer to it as "the vehicle".

We had to computerize the wiring, and I got stuck with the error checking of the weekly inputs, and the auditing of the data base.  I worked closely with the programmers to create error traps. For example, I would have two different  typists do the entries  and if not identical, it would be flagged in the report.

You would be surprised at the amount of wiring involved  with such a relatively small plane. All systems had to have at least one redundant backup.

Thanks,

Sounds complicated and boring but very critical.
