Just wanted to give a shout out to you folks for the sale of pork and beans to China

There was some discussion as to the possibility that MFD [sp??] payments were a violation of WTO rules

Fortunately that discussion may never happen as you have no need of the 2nd 1/2 of the payment, now that markets and exports are booming

Congrats

Yes china came to you for pork and beans. Obviously they had no choice. Although there could be a lot of moving parts

Trump made the 1st move by delaying the next round of tariffs. China came back with a purchase of pork and beans. This much we know. We all hope for the best. But there are a lot of other things, that we know

We  know china was in desperate need of pork or any kind of meat re: Kenyan donkeys. Xi was not about to starve 45 million of his people as Mao did. We know that china is working on some ambitious plans to put in place supply lines for food in the future. We also know these supply lines won't be in place for some time.

1st: It may be possible that china is finally getting ASF under control, but it will take yrs to re-build the hog herd

You don't just bring large acreage in Africa into top production in a yr or so

You don't dredge the Parana river to access the huge soy bean production acreage in Argentina in a yr or so plus build deep water ports for large ships to load at port far inland

This all takes time but the hand writing is on the wall

That is a lot of food supply all going to china, and not small supplies but huge [maybe even bigly] China will probably continue to buy from the USA as all other sources of supply are depleted on a yr to yr basis. That means the USA will be the supplier of last resort

To think that 10 cargoes of beans, plus some pork means huge sales in the future is a bit of a stretch. Will china cancel the order as they have in the past and then re-buy at a cheaper price. You know china lies, cheats and worse

Are you ready to go long beans or hogs, on a long dated contract or even short dated, if you were into commodities trading
