Does anybody seriously think china will sign a deal with Trump that has effective enforcement rules

Trump may sign a deal but it won't be worth the paper it is writen on

Haven't people seen enough to know what china does???

China cheats and Trump can't do anything about that

In the mean time Trump lost a very good Ag market with china that will never come back. That tax payer money to farmers won't continue for ever

Thanks for nothing.

Number of farm BK has increased, banks are looking at farm clients closer for cash flow. Frankly the farm economy is a mess.  Farmers deciding to throw in the towel, have a farm sale earlier than planned, hoping to get out with something to show for a life time of work

Maybe this is a bash Trump post I dunno

Except every word about trade with china will prove to be true

"In the mean time Trump lost a very good Ag market with china that will never come back."

So after the deal is made, China will continue to punish themselves and buy more beans from Brazil, even when the price is higher?

Or will they buy based on the global market and cheapest prices?

The USA and Canada is the highest COP in the world of major  producers

That doesn't look to change any time soon

China is bringing huge new low cost production acres in Argentina into production by dredging the Parana river

Ocean boats will load at ports far into the interior of Argentina

China is also doing some investment in Africa. Remains to be seen if china can work with mostly unstable gov't but they seem to think the investment in food production is worth the risk

What they do is make huge loans at attractive int rates. When the loans come due and can not be repaid then they move in and get concessions to start food production. Africa is a long term investment for china

Remains to be seen how well that works

Doesn't really matter. Unless weather is a factor Brazil and Argentina can supply china

China is hedging their food supply by dredging the Parana river and investment in Africa, plus the already huge supply from Brazil. Brazil is increasing their Ag industry

The USA will be the supplier of last resort
