Misinformation During a Pandemic

The Pandemic of Anti-Hannity Misinformation from the University of Chicago Study

You can’t make it up.  Unless, of course, you do and pretend the results are a scientific “study.”

https://thejeffreylord.com/the-pandemic-of-anti-hannity-misinformation-from-the-university-of-chicago-study/

metmike: I often have CNN on much of the day to hear their reporting, mostly to be able to respond to people who are misinformed about some of the things that they state.

I am also always interested in hearing both sides before forming an opinion and watch more FOX in the evening than CNN, so try to get a balance.

For the first time in my life, I just couldn't stand it anymore earlier this week. Nonstop spinning the news by every anchor, every show and every hour to tell us how President Trump should have known about this in January and his failure to act has resulted in tens of thousands of dead Americans and a destroyed economy.

Funny how the outfit above decided to give CNN a pass..........pretending to be an authority on misinformation, while being part of the misinformation.

You can follow the many links on this at the thread below.

I have been following the coronavirus since it popped up in the news in mid-January and I was pretty sure it would be no big deal in the US.

Wayne was very concerned back then. The rest of the universe was not. We went thru the month of February like that. Even in very early March, most of the authorities did not have a clue that it was going to turn out like this. That includes metmike.

It's absurd and totally dishonest that both sides are pretending that they knew all along and the other side was reckless and ignored them and the signs.

One side in particular(that called Trump a xenophobe for a month after he banned travelers from China) is especially pathetic in doing this.

We have a crisis and stations like CNN want use it to obliterate Trump. Trump made mistakes for sure and his bragging about how great everything that he did is nauseating but the MSM telling of the story of what happened and what the circumstances were is so blatantly distorted and done with complete ill intent that its evidence that freedom of the press can sometimes be a very bad thing.

CNN is a trip.

They have been cutting away more and more from the coronavirus task force updates  when Trump or Pence speak, broadcasting, instead, 100% Trump bashing, then going back to the updates immediately when somebody other than Trump or Pence is speaking.

They are treating the task force updates as political promotion events(and Trump often does get carried away bragging about the same things to the point of adnausium) but it is what it is and this is part of how this key news that viewers have a right to know is being delivered.   They have taken it upon themselves to NOT give their viewers news that makes the president look good whenever possible.

They ALWAYS broadcast every second of the the question and answer sessions with the reporters.  This is when the reporters can often grill Trump. They love this.

Certainly they are giving Trump lots of exposure that they can't stand being part of it, so this in not a surprise.

Today was interesting. A government scientist was up there talking about  the results of their comprehensive studying of the COVID-19 virus under certain conditions. It was especially pleasant music to my ears because it backed, 100% my contention for over a month here. Add to it, the fact that strong sunshine(ultra violet light) kills the virus in a minute.

So the entire time while this esteemed scientist is sharing the results of the legit  studies including graphs, CNN has a huge caption under him, "Administration official tries to back up Trumps assertion that heat will kill the virus"

When he finished, they cut away briefly to tell us why to not believe the guy(no real evidence) and that he is probably just trying to make Trump, his boss, look good.

Back to the reporters and Trump and they do question the validity of this legit scientific research to Trump. His response is funny. That he had nothing to do with the research or what the guy just said but the fake news will tell us to not believe it because he said it earlier.............as if he had been listening to CNN the previous 20 minutes doing exactly that.

At the moment they are calling this "The president's baffling, snake oil, traveling medicine show"

Exact words used twice in the last 10 minutes by Jim Acosta.

CNN: "This is just the president wanting a quick fix but he needs to start relying on real science, not what he wants to happen."

metmike: As a scientist who has been showing the authentic science on this over the past month, including numerous studies in this thread below, this is more FAKE NEWS by CNN.

I am very excited to hear the results of these studies. We were not sure that COVID-19 would act like other virus's/the flu regarding sunshine and humidity but this confirms it.

This is why the flu is seasonal and dies down EVERY SINGLE SUMMER no exceptions........then comes back late in the year, when colder, drier air masses arrive.

This only means that conditions will be much less favorable this Summer for transmission and survival of COVID-19. It will still survive and could still increase in some spots if its mega contagious. It also, almost guarantees that it will try to make a come back in October/November when colder, drier air masses invade again.

metmike: This is exactly what the convincing science presented here for the past month on humidity shows. If you double the humidity, you decrease the amount of the virus surviving after 1 hour by 50%. That doesn't mean it goes away indoors during the Summer, it just survives in the air for less time.

Administration study finds high temperatures, humidity, and sunlight kill the coronavirus

https://www.the-sun.com/news/723902/coronavirus-dies-sunlight-us-homeland-security-study/

The game-changing findings of the joint effort between the DHS's Science and Technology directorate and Donald Trump's coronavirus task force was revealed at Thursday's White House press briefing.

The virus dies quickest in the presence of direct sunlight, and it survives best in indoor conditions, the study found.

This chart presented Thursday shows the 'half-life' of the virus, or how long it takes to cut its lifespan in half

The funniest part for me is that after the breaking great news about this study that came from the top notch government scientist at the coronavirus press conference on Thursday, I mean this is huge and should have been the headlines..........the MSM, instead as usual decided to look for a way to mischaracterize things that President Trump stated to smear him and not cover the real news.

More fakes news replacing the real news.

We now have a bunch of people that never heard what the president said, being told that he recommended injecting bleach into their bodies.......and believing it because when you hate somebody's guts............hate is blind and your emotions drive your thoughts vs objective critical thinking.

These are the exact words spoken by President Trump:

"And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning. Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs. So it would be interesting to check that. So, that, you're going to have to use medical doctors with. But it sounds—it sounds interesting to me."

This has been twisted like a pretzel, using Fake News 101 reporting, to tell us that Trump recommended injecting bleach  as a cure for the coronavirus..............now that's the funny part .....that so many  gullible Trump hating sheeple took the bait.

Ideas for cleaning our blood and lungs have been around for a very long time..........but if President Trump says that it sounds interesting and that "you're going to have to use medical doctors with it" the MSM tell us that he was actually telling everybody to use bleach to do it.

Pretty dang funny, especially in serving as another example of more MSM misinformation, that goes on day in and day out...........and  what got this thread started in the first place (-:

What I find interesting....   I know there are medical procedures similar, or exactly like injecting disinfectants.  Not Lysol,  not bleach,  but approved medicinal compounds.  Along those lines,  high doses of vitamin C break down to hydrogen peroxide, not the same thing,  but along the same lines.  I knew all this prior to this latest charade.

But the interesting part.  When I try  google them,   I get page after page of "Medical Experts Damn Trump for suggesting people inject Lysol".  I'm sure if I kept paging,  I'd get to the actual information,   but....

Has it always been this bad and I am just waking up to it, or has Trump inspired a whole new level of MSM presenting misinformation?   And either way,  how can this not be obvious to all, if not at least the majority?

Tim,

Extremely profound point!

I was away from home yesterday when all this was being spread online. I went to my wife's work and she and her boss separately told me how they can't believe that President Trump  recommended on Thursday that people inject bleach to treat the coronavirus.

My comment to her was "What the heck, I listened to every word he said and he didn't say that!"

Then, we had a teleconference birthday party for our 11 year old grandson and somebody made fun of it happening and my wife sited that as more evidence that he said that.

Then, I came home and discovered just what you reported. Every search for anything related to this came up with articles about how it was so horrible that President Trump told people about injecting bleach into themselves to treat the coronavirus.

Was I brain dead on Thursday and completely missed that one??? Thursday's session with Trump actually related to the weather(sun, heat and humidity) so I was paying attention to every word that everybody said the entire time).

When I got the exact quote, I posted it above.

No,  metmike isn't the one that's brain dead.

What has happened is that the MSM and social medial have completely hijacked the information delivery system in order to push their agenda, which in this case is to obliterate President Trump.

They've been doing this with the completely fake climate crisis for years.......and that has also escalated into a Twilight Zone type of reality where they  have now elevated a teenage girl (person of the year from Time-2nd place for Nobel Peace Prize) to their climate guru/high priestess of the climate cult/religion for spewing complete anti/junk science nonsense because the authentic science shows irrefutably that we are having a climate optimum.

People have lost their ability to think rationally using critical thinking(they now can be convinced that we are killing a planet that is massively greening up in front of them, year after year).

All  you need to do is use manufactured stories(they don't even have to make sense anymore-just concoct them to appeal to people's innate cognitive bias's and induced gullibility and vulnerability from their dependence on the internet and MSM to get ALL their information).

There was no internet 30 years ago and although the MSM back then was liberal(I was part of that group at WEHT-Evansille IN then) there were no CNN's, who currently employ anchors that are progressive activists  (not objective professional journalists, like those that existed 30 years ago on the 3 major national news networks). The  objective today is to impose their political belief system on people. Not by reporting the actual news as it happens but by spinning and editing it to fit their agenda........telling you their version of the news, using propaganda and fake news.

These are actually good people with good intents. The problem is that they have decided that they know what's best for us and their cause is much more important than telling the truth. And they can't leave it up to the dumb peons to interpret the basic facts. So they are using their self recognized superior wisdom and self anointed power to make this world better(create their version of the world-which includes global socialism- the main objective of the climate crisis scam) vs letting you or me use the objective facts to figure it out on our own.

So here we are in 2020 with the incredible power of the internet that has amplified the ability to accomplish these things by 10,000 times vs 30 years ago.

People's brains have been constantly bombarded with propaganda and fake news to the point that they can no longer tell real news from fake news. This "event" is the quintessential example of it. People usually go to the same sources, that line up with their personal belief system because its human nature(birds of a feather),. People do NOT go to sources that state things which might question their core beliefs and make them uncomfortable because "inconvenient" facts sometimes contradict what they think that you know.

Perfect environment to use the immensely powerful communication tools of today to brainwash the people. And a brainwashed person would never know they are brainwashed.........by definition. They think the other side has all the brainwashed people and their side has the entire franchise on the truth.

Everybody that agrees with me...............knows that I'm right........and they will  assume that I'm like them and can safely store this as authentic information in their brains, then go back to their sources of biased information.

Everybody that disagrees with me..............knows that I'm wrong..........and  will reject what was just stated, assuming that I'm not like them, then go back to their safe sources of authentic information that tell them what they go there to hear.

The biggest problem is that society has evolved(because of those using the powerful delivery of communications described earlier) to pull people completely over to one side or the other.

People that love Trump will be much more likely to go to sites that say only nice things about him. The more positive the spin, the greater the users love of Trump......and it becomes a positive feedback.

Same with those that hate Trump. CNN viewers go there because they know CNN will bash President Trump relentlessly and never say anything positive about him.

So besides the brainwashing element mentioned earlier, we have the ratings reality.  TV and newspapers are not non profit organizations. Their #1 priority, higher than all the others combined is to make money.

You can best achieve that by sensationalizing the news(good news doesn't sell in the long run-bad news does) and appealing to people by telling them what they want to hear.

If/when Biden gets elected. CNN is going to get hurt real bad in the ratings. People tune in to watch/listen to them bash President Trump all day. It's what they WANT to hear. When he is no longer president:

1. Their mission to obliterate him will have been accomplished.

2. People won't care nearly as much about him anymore.

Fox news will have a tremendous amount of people that tune in that don't like Biden and want to hear anti Biden stuff. I say "don't like" because the emotion hate is reserved for people that are never Trumpers. They feel so offended by anything that he does, that many of them have a higher opinion of Hitler.

So the point is that much of this is feeding the extreme political divisiveness in our country. Worst by far since the Civil War, over 150 years ago and growing  by the week with events like the one that just happened with this fake news about Trump.

We can ask. Making up this latest story,  that Trump advised people to inject bleach to defeat the coronavirus did what for peoples opinions of Trump............ made people like him more or hate him more?

Your answer tells us the reason they did it.

So the intensity of hatred for President Trump(by the haters) is growing............by design by the gatekeepers of our information.

Oh, yeah. The election is getting closer and the Mueller hoax,  unjustified impeachment and coronavirus  vilifying has backfired so the full court press is on.

Chris Cuomo satirizes Trump’s disinfectant-injection suggestion: ‘Take two shots of Windex, swallow this lightbulb, and call me in the morning’

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/chris-cuomo-satirizes-trumps-disinfectant-injection-suggestion-take-two-shots-of-windex-swallow-this-lightbulb-and-call-me-in-the-morning-2020-04-24

Cristina Cuomo says she treated her coronavirus with Clorox baths, vitamin drips: Experts react

USA TODAY

https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2020/04/24/coronavirus-experts-warn-against-cristina-cuomos-bleach-baths-methods/3017294001/

"Experts are warning the public about alternative remedies Cristina Cuomo says she and her family used during their fight against the novel coronavirus

The Cuomo family has been hit hard by COVID-19, which first struck CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, then Cristina and recently their 14-year-old son, Mario. The couple share two other children.

Cristina Cuomo's recommendations, including baths using disinfecting Clorox bleach, which the cleaning product company has specifically warned against,  have received criticism from medical experts.

On CNN's "Cuomo Prime Time" Friday, Chris Cuomo did not mention his wife during an opening monologue ridiculing President Donald Trump floating the idea of studying injection of disinfectants as a treatment for coronavirus during a Thursday briefing. On Friday, Trump said he was being sarcastic.

"Instead of selling us on a well-thought-out plan to reopen so we can get on the page, what are federal officials doing today? Warning us not to poison ourselves with household cleaners. Why? Because of what Trump said and meant," Chris Cuomo said at the start of Friday's show. "Heaven forfend, this president just take responsibility, just take it back. Trump floated it seriously, not sarcastically, and now he’s trying to spin it. It's the same thing every time. Double down on dumb."

Cristina Cuomo’s Clorox Recommendation Overshadowed by Trump’s Clorox Recommendation

A big day for bleach.

Take note below in the verbiage used in this article to describe an attack on one of their own, Chris Cuomo.

1. "tabloid"...........unreliable source

2. "asserted"...........no we have 100% proof,  a witness who filed a police report followed by Cuomo himself recalling it on a radio show and calling the guy  a"jackass, loser, fat-tire biker."

3. "appeared to have been lying"..............no, he WAS lying with 100% proof.

metmike: Ironically, Christina Cuomo actually used these treatments and is the editor in chief of "The Purist" a wellness publication. Trump suggested that they sounded interesting and no, he did not recommend or even use the word bleach..... but that we should use the advice of medical doctors.

Talk about misinformation.  Chris Cuomo for weeks told us that staying indoors was the only way to get thru this, then he and his family, with the virus went out in public.............without masks!!!

Let’s get this straight. This is what Trump said:

"And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning. Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs. So it would be interesting to check that. So, that, you're going to have to use medical doctors with. But it sounds—it sounds interesting to me."

If Trump supporters can’t bring themselves to criticize him for rambling on about these dangerous things in front  of tens of millions of viewers, then there’s little hope for objectivity from these folks. This includes Mike and Tim.  I thought you two had some semblance of respectability as far as trying to be objective/fair. But not criticizing him for this is troubling to me. Even I, who am not at all a Trump supporter, gave him Kudos for strongly criticizing GA Governor Kemp. It isn’t hard to be a little open-minded.

And then Trump doubled down the next day by lieing. He said he was sarcastically answering a question from the press when he said that. No he wasn’t. He was looking over in the direction of Dr. Birx on his right when he was saying this!

I don’t need anti-Trump, fake news CNN to tell me what he said shouldn’t have been said and that it is downright dangerous  to ramble on like that about considering the injection of disinfectant for treatment. Common sense tells me this was wrong. As he himself often says, he’s not a doc and should leave the medical stuff to the docs.

We agree Larry, that Trump lied the next day and claimed that he was being sarcastic......he wasn't but he didn't need to say that the next day because he didn't say what everybody claims that he did. This was what he thought would make him look best. For me, this is the only thing that he did that was dishonest/wrong.

And the other thing that we both agree on is that Trump stated in that same paragraph that  people should rely on a medical doctor, not him for advise  and he didn't give any advise or mention bleach or Clorox........he just said that putting something into the body to cleanse it sounded interesting.

I gave you a bunch of examples of products sold that do that.

With regards to you recognizing that Trump disagreeing with the GA governor was a good thing. Great. I am being just as objective in saying that I think that Trump is wrong about the governors decision.

I really don't want to go back and bring out some of the many dozens of examples of me criticizing Trump again because everytime that I do, you forget about it, when I criticize others that when they use fake news to attack Trump.

With regards to being objective, I am not even a republican and I would love to have anybody but Trump running that had most of his agenda but sadly, we are stuck with him and his flaws if we want the agenda.

Mike,

Ok, kudos for you being open minded enough to criticize his policies sometimes. I know you often criticize his behavior but then you seemingly almost always dismiss that and then say you still support him anyway. I actually didn’t see anywhere else that you criticized him regarding Kemp (opposite of me). My bad for that.

But let’s get back to what he said. Are you seriously not going to criticize him for what he said in front of tens of millions of viewers? If so, that’s a “wow”.

By metmike - April 25, 2020, 10:54 p.m.

Tell me what you think that he said was wrong please.

Please use the exact words and explain why it was wrong.

I already provided his exact words and why I don't think he said  anything wrong based specifically on the verbiage, which I included in my explanations.

Maybe I am overlooking something.

So far, all I have read are insinuations based on speculative assumptions of things that require the reader to guess things that he never actually said but  he really did mean, again, even though he actually did not say them.

Because he said it in front of tens of millions of viewers is not a good reason for why it was wrong, so please use a different reason.

If it's such a wow for me not to criticise him in your eyes, then I would have thought that it would be easy to point out what he said that justifies the wow.

If you can do this for me, then I will gladly try to look at it again from your position.

Thanks

More examples continue to spew out from the  MSM propaganda sewer using their bogus interpretation of what the president said/meant.........spinning up lies/fake news and their control over the information on the internet to control peoples brains.

Since one side's hatred makes them so blind, I will help out even more in dissecting what President Trump actually stated using facts, then show how they are being blatantly distorted and lied about:

"And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning. Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs. So it would be interesting to check that. So, that, you're going to have to use medical doctors with. But it sounds—it sounds interesting to me."

1. "you're going to have to use medical doctors with" That by itself, makes it  CRYSTAL CLEAR that he does NOT consider himself as the authority and that people should NOT do anything on their own at home or any other place without "medical doctors"

2. "it sounds interesting to me"  This is the opposite of telling people to do something or even recommending it. It means that additional research is appropriate at the most.

3. There is not 1 mention of bleach or Clorox in there as we are being bombarded with from the fake news narratives.

4. "And I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute" This is in reference to an actual fact based on the study that the scientific team had just showed. He never says anything about using the exact same product(Clorox/bleach)............never, in fact he says the complete opposite.

5. "And is there a way that we can do something LIKE THAT". Like that means something DIFFERENT but similar which means NOT bleach or Clorox but something that's designed to be put into the human body.

6. "By injection inside or almost a cleaning" As I showed previously with examples, we have dozens of products on the market right now being sold for this purpose to cleanse the blood and lungs.

7. "Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs" This is exactly what the coronavirus does.

Now to apply these facts,   specifically identifying  what the lie or misleading information is that others are using in mischaracterizing what President Trump stated............ then showing the truth. Everybody that hates Trump will see this truth as me being a Trump apologist(hate is blind) vs the actual points. Those that support Trump will see the opposite. I neither hate Trump nor support him personally. I only see his actions and objectives and what they mean for the United States...........and the  truth based on objective, authentic facts.

See the next page that shines the light of truth on the diabolical deceit motivated by the most destructive human emotion........hatred.

Revealed: leader of group peddling bleach as coronavirus 'cure' wrote to Trump this week

Mark Grenon wrote to Trump saying chlorine dioxide ‘can rid the body of Covid-19’ days before the president promoted disinfectant as treatment

metmike: 1. This is a lie. Trump never promoted disinfectant as a treatment. He said the opposite...........something similar to disinfectant means NOT disinfectant.

2. Trump never mentioned bleach or Clorox

3. Trump didn't promote the use of anything. He promoted studying the potential of a cleaning agent similar to what we use now in the human body as cleaning agents but one that would kill the coronavirus. Again, these were his exact words: So it would be interesting to check that. So, that, you're going to have to use medical doctors with.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/24/revealed-leader-group-peddling-bleach-cure-lobbied-trump-coronavirus

From the article:

"Trump did not specify where the idea of using disinfectant as a possible remedy for Covid-19 came from, and the source for his notion remains obscure. But the Guardian has learned that peddlers of chlorine dioxide – industrial bleach – have been making direct approaches to the White House in recent days."

4. Again, Trumps words: "And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute." are about the study and the affects OUTSIDE of the body. The source of his notion was the study that his scientist had just presented to us. He was referring to the results of the study.

"the Guardian has learned that peddlers of chlorine dioxide – industrial bleach – have been making direct approaches to the White House in recent days."

5. This is taking it to another level..............a diabolical level by this sorry excuse for journalism.  They are trying to convince readers that President Trump was in cahoots with a company that sells industrial bleach and his objective on Thursday was to sell this to Americans. Total  , 100% FAKE NEWS! Again, read what he actually said.

"Grenon styles himself as “archbishop” of Genesis II – a Florida-based outfit that claims to be a church but which in fact is the largest producer and distributor of chlorine dioxide bleach as a “miracle cure” in the US."

"Since the start of the pandemic, Genesis II has been marketing MMS as a cure to coronavirus. It advises users, including children, to mix three to six drops of bleach in water and drink it."

6. Now, they are trying to stretch the FAKE NEWS to establish the non existent connection, to an entity that is corrupt(which is irrelent because there is ZERO connection to anything that Trump has said or done-other than the one that they are making up)

"Paradoxically, Trump’s outburst about the possible value of an “injection” of disinfectant into the lungs of Covid-19 sufferers came just days after a leading agency within the president’s own administration took action to shut down the peddling of bleach as a coronavirus cure around the US."

7. They just busted themselves. This company sells a product designed for DRINKING bleach not injecting it. If Trump was in cahoots with them, he just sabotaged them because their product is NOT DESIGNED FOR INJECTING.

"Last week the US Food and Drug Administration obtained a federal court order barring Genesis II from selling what was described as “an unproven and potentially harmful treatment for Covid-19”. The FDA also ordered a disciple of Genesis II, Kerri Rivera, to remove claims that MMS cured coronavirus from her website.

"On Friday, hours after Trump talked about disinfectant on live TV, Grenon went further in a post on his Facebook page. He claimed that MMS had actually been sent to the White House. He wrote: “Trump has got the MMS and all the info!!! Things are happening folks! Lord help others to see the Truth!”

8. Again, Trump never even said anything about drinking something(which is what they sell) as he talked about cleansing of the lungs, which is something completely different than anything that this company sells.

"The Guardian contacted the White House asking whether Grenon’s letter had influenced Trump’s comments on disinfectant, but did not immediately receive a response."

9. Funny. This is supposed to imply that the White House is covering something up. Right, covering up something that has no connection whatsoever to anything the president said or has done. Zero connection but they just came up with a fake news scheme to make it appear as if something that never happened, did happen.  Truly diabolical!

"Paradoxically, Trump’s outburst about the possible value of an “injection” of disinfectant into the lungs of Covid-19 sufferers came just days after a leading agency within the president’s own administration took action to shut down the peddling of bleach as a coronavirus cure around the US."

10.  This is proof that the Trump administration is FIGHTING AGAINST the peddling of bleach as a coronavirus cure. They just provided the evidence to bust themselves again.

How ironic that in the end, we find out that the actions of this administration to shut down the peddling of bleach as a coronavirus cure show the complete opposite of what they want us to believe. The fact is that he has never promoted bleach and never said it at any time, despite the FAKE NEWS being passed around to the entire country  by the gate keepers of information telling us the complete opposite.........because they hate Donald Trump more than they love the truth.
