Seattle protesters struggle to determine what’s next for ‘autonomous zone’ as Trump lobs threats

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/06/12/seattle-autonomous-zone-capitol-hill/

"In the four days since the Seattle Police Department vacated its East Precinct building and a leaderless congregation of activists established the police-free “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” — or CHAZ — across four blocks outside, the largely peaceful demonstration has forced activists and city officials to grapple with questions of accountability, leadership and what comes next.

The struggle comes as a larger conversation plays out nationally over how communities want to change — and in some cases eliminate — the traditional policing model. Meanwhile, President Trump and his allies are decrying such protests and calls to defund police as a breakdown in lawful society.

Trump has lashed out at Washington Gov. Jay Inslee and Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan, both Democrats, over the situation in Seattle and implied he would end the demonstrations with military force — something both Inslee and Durkan have said is unconstitutional and illegal."

Black Lives Matter protesters say Seattle’s autonomous zone has hijacked message

https://www.foxnews.com/us/black-lives-matter-protesters-seattle-chaz-hijacked-message

Former Seattle City Council candidate Ari Hoffman explains what's really going on in his city.

Protesters inside the self-declared autonomous zone in downtown Seattle booed and heckled members of the African American Community Advisory Council Thursday afternoon as the group told demonstrators they had "hijacked" the message of Black Lives Matter.

SEATTLE OFFICERS FACE 'AUTONOMOUS ZONE' CROWD, SAY 911 RESPONSE TIMES HAVE TRIPLED

The council works to foster relationships between the Seattle Police Department and the community, a necessary liaison, particularly in the climate of mounting tension against police following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

A protester talks with Seattle Police assistant chiefs Adrian Diaz, left, and Deanna Nollette, center, inside what is being called the "Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone" in Seattle.

“The thing is, you have hijacked this! You have taken the meaning away!” a woman from the council said, addressing demonstrators inside the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone,” (CHAZ)-- a six-block region, which includes a police precinct-- that has been taken over by protesters.

After weeks of protests, Seattle demonstrators successfully ousted police officers from the East Precinct, forcing them to shutter the building and leave, and attempts at negotiating a police presence have been unsuccessful.

“Black lives do matter but there are also black lives that are police lives,” a woman from the council said, according to reports by Komo News. “They feel the same way that you do.”

The woman was booed and demonstraters grabbed other microphones and began talking over her, the news outlet reported.

metmike: My initial response was, probably like many of you "how dare these law breaking anarchists do this. We should stop it ASAP!!!

But after thinking about it more, I think letting it run its course may be the best thing. For sure, if Trump went in to stop it(I don't think that he can) and somebody got hurt, it would create a martyr(s) and end up garnering massive support for these people and make Trump look really bad. So that would be the WORST option.

Only extreme people could possibly be supporting this. Let's consider it a real live laboratory/experiment and let it play on for awhile to see what happens. They are getting massive, massive attention and news coverage, so we will be able to see exactly whats going on, what they represent/how they think and lets hear all their wonderful ideas for making the world a better place.

So far, I'm only hearing that they are against cops and represent massive chaos.

I think that the worst thing that could happen to them..........is for this to keep going on without them having a clear, positive message that people can connect to or embrace.......so as time goes on, they will actually HURT their movement as people understand exactly what it is they represent.

But who knows in todays world, maybe George Soros will step in with a million dollars worth of resources and they will expand to take over a larger area  and gain MORE power (-:

Seriously, I do think we are getting a preview of the inevitable future world under the leadership of the extreme progressives that are getting more and more political power, like AOC.

Teenagers like anti science Greta selling a completely made up climate crisis that many  people believe in to support global socialism/Marxism have got a tremendous amount of momentum and this climate guru, high priestess is winning over hundreds of millions of followers in their cult..........young people that will soon be voting.

Brilliant strategy and no amount of authentic science from metmike on some yahoo forum will make a difference.

It's coming!  Green New Fairy Tale and economic collapse with humans consuming much less natural resources in a more sustainable world.

Of course this anarchy is getting under President Trumps skin big time because he is Mr. Law and Order and he will probably say some crazy things before it gets resolved that make him look bad but they are doing him a HUGE favor.....if he would control himself.

Trump totally lost anybody that is supporting these people a long time ago.

So as this goes on, it will be the exact same people supporting it as the ones that hate Trump.

The sane people that don't support this and are not ultra never Trumpers and anybody on the fence is likely to be concerned about law and order and their safety.........no, they are already.........gun sales were UP 80% last month. That tells you people are getting scared and feel threatened. They didn't buy all those guns because they suddenly became gun collectors.

What president represents law and order?

The left has decided to take a very bad, losing position here. Because of Trumps tough talk on law and order, they are now for defunding the police........THE GOOD GUYS(because of isolated racist acts that are being addressed).

All law abiding citizens know that the police protect us and are good guys. They may not like Trump but the battle right now is between his law and order and the left's "all cops are bad mentality" and a future that leaves people with less protection in their homes and businesses.

When it comes down to it, people will vote for their pocketbooks and their familiy's safety.

President Trump should be the easiest incombant in history to defeat. He has the most enemies in history. He has many times more people that hate his guts than any president in history. Almost the entire MSM broadcasts nothing but negatives about him, some stations, like CNN devote most of their day to blatantly attacking him vs covering any other news. He has said hundreds of silly things, is mean and divisive and lack compassion. The MSM have people convinced that he's a racist....that works really well in the current environment.

How can he possibly win?

A lot of people care about their jobs(the economy).

A lot of people care about their safety and that of their families.

Huge mistake on the issue of law and order by the dems that just put him back in it.

I still think he will probably lose but Biden could easily win this thing, despite being cerebrally incapable of performing the job of president, along with his corruption in Ukraine(which nobody cares about anymore)(or the accusation of his attack by a women who worked for him)........if Joe would come out strongly on the issue of law in order that is exactly in lockstep with Trumps!

Then, people could not  have that as a reason to vote for Trump.

The tactic has been to take the OPPOSITE position of Trump...........whatever his position.

HUGE mistake here because law and order is very important to the vast majority of people.

as I mentioned in my post "Summer of love in Seattle", the chief of police announced this morning, June 12. that violent crime, such as robberies and rapes, have quadrupled in the CHAZ zone, since they took over.
