Defunding the police will absolutely cause crime rates that you showed are bad now...........to get even worse.
As you showed, the correlation/proof is already going on in NYC.
They have cut the budget by 1 billion(small fraction) and will slowly reduce the police force by attrition.
Common sense tells us that the crime rate is likely to go higher.
I agree with you. Cops should be getting pay raises and we need more of them in these cities that are losing the lives of dozens of people, black and white every week.
They are likely the most abused profession right now and least appreciated. Many are being injured, some even assassinated in cold blood. Cursed and called names constantly. Risking their lives to fight crime and criminals.
Almost all of them doing a wonderful job to keep people like me and you safe. The benefits of policing are greatest in the inner cities/urban areas where crime rates are the highest.

Reducing their presence would be like having a weak dam with numerous holes that were plugged up over the years....................and instead of voting for additional funds to reinforce the dam with stronger materials or patching it, the dam council votes.................to remove the plugs that are keeping it from losing water/leaking.

Defunding the police and having police enforcement pull back WILL lead to higher crime rates. Everybody but criminals are harmed when that happens but the poor and blacks are hurt the most.

Ironically, one side is about reduction of gun ownership but their actions recently are causing the entire opposite thing of what they claim to be for to happen.
