If the pledge involves protecting Confederate monuments than the answer  He gives is no.

Confederate veterans are not US veterans Confederate monuments are nothing to be honored or recognized.  They honor treason and they are slavery because that's what the Confederate States were all about. We know this because of the historical record of the reasons why they gained when they left the Union on their resolutions .

A course that is a little different on the battlefields because there the monuments  have historical significance
