So here is the situation

Come Monday you are required to wear a mask when entering and place that serves the public

So you pull your mask out of your  pocket, don the mask and do your business transaction

The some time later you are required to show proof of vaccination, to conduct business, buy medicine etc.

How can you not be vaccinated, even against your wishes

Twilight Zone???

Will probably happen unless some thing changes

Of course it might be optional for those in power, the same as shut in/lock down was optional

State shutdowns are next. As the virus continues to spiral out of control and number of cases are going up now even in the northern States.

The argument has always been that you cannot have a long economic shutdown. You have it for temporary period of time to get the virus under control.

That means  that the government At federal state and local levels do things which who strict the virus from spreading. The number one PROVEN  way to stop the virus  are MASKS

Yet the same people usually conservative who are more focus on the damage of economic shutdown are the same people who argue against mandatory masks ....mandatory shelter home ...mandatory masks wearing  going inside.  This perspective this argument is mine said is the essence of stupidity. It is completely irrational.

Only now today 5 months into this did the president wear a mask in public for the 1st time period he has not met with doctor fauci in 60 days.  Trump and the White House that he runs reaction to the virus has been a  Disaster of a highest water. Americans cannot leave the country because no other country will allow us to go there because of  Virus

Make America great? No make America 3rd world country led by incompetent the ministration and people who don't understand basic science

Mark my words. We are about to go into major lockdown once again. The one thing that the country could not afford could not risk is going to happen again. All because far right conservatives nd conspiracy nut cases wont wear masks

Dave,

I agree that President Trump has made some huge blunders with handling the coronavirus.

You noted one of the biggest.........not promoting wearing masks until recently.

His rally in OK, I believe was the dumbest thing that he did in his life, not just the last 3 years but in his life.

Too bad he didn't get impeached and we had Mike Pence running on Trumps agenda.

Cases here in sw IN have been pretty low but went up during the last week, enough so that they just passed an "ordinance"  requiring everybody to wear masks.

No penalties or fines for violating but strong encouragement that everybody do it.

There is an argument to be made about how effective a mask may be

Most masks fit poorly and slip down when talking or just naturally

If there is virus material in the air, that is the only reason a mask may help. A mask does not protect you or stop the spread when surfaces etc are contaminated.

So: If there is virus in the air, the outside of your mask is infected

You fiddle with the mask, touch your face and become infected

The only good reason to wear a mask is to slow down spreading virus material if YOU are infected

Most common masks are of poor quality and let virus material escape the mask from a poor fit or poor material

The only good mask is that 95 some thing mask and even then most people fiddle with it, touching, adjusting etc.

How many have access to the best mask available, even if they wear it properly, which is virtually impossible

Not saying a mask isn't a good idea

Just not the answer most think it will be

And of course, so long as we have public demonstrations, the virus will be with us no matter how hard you and I try to act properly

We might slow the spread of the virus but people being people, the virus still wins

So we might slow the spread of the virus [maybe] then re-open.

Rinse and repeat

Be realistic folks. The virus will be with us for a long time and the virus will win, every time

No sign of a vaccine, so that doesn't look promising
