I know it's a little early to be talking about the 2018 crop and drought, but it looks like the dryness that was beginning last summer is still going on.  There is an awful lot of the US that is dry to very dry.  At the very least it is going to take a wet spring to get subsoil moisture adequate.  

I really just wanted to make it rain or snow, that's why I brought it up.

Wasn't it this spring that farmers planted in mud?  I think the saying that planting in mud, the crop is a dud, was blown up.  

Maybe in 2018 the saying planting in dust and bins will bust, will get blown up too.
