For quite some time now, the border patrol has been using the "catch and release" protocol.
They arrest illegal aliens, take down their names and give them a piece of paper that tells the illegal, when and where to show up in court. The court date is usually a few months into the future Naturally, most illegals never show up in court.
exPres Triump changed this procedure. He made an agreement with Mexico. It is my understanding that the arrested illegals were sent back to Mexico, where the Mexican government put them into holding facilities. There, they had to wait to hear from the US court, whether they were allowed to come in or not.
Now, since Biden's comments have caused a tsunami of immigrants, the Border Patrol is overwhelmed. Now, they don't send them back to Mexico, and they don't even order them to show up in court anymore

It looks like the new administration is bad for the country... and 3 1/2 more years to go
