Internal combustion engines [ICE}

Just read a report that in order to comply with the Paris accord there can be no ICE engines sold after 2035 among other things that will be needed. The report just went thru a check list of what will need to change

Ford and GM tell us their fleet will be totally EV but won''t give us a time line for this to happen. Probably waiting to see how many F-150 EV trucks are sold

My guess is no ICE engines sold after 2035 will never happen

1st of all we will have new politicians who will see the folly of generation of alternative energy. It won't meet energy needs

If ICE engines are phased out totally by 2035 the economy will come to a stand still.

Today the buzz word is for for all things environmentally friendly

When you have shortages and the reason is traced back to a lack of energy and materials people will have a sudden change in attitude

Today it is a lack of chips

Tomorrow the lack of energy will make the chip shortage look like a minor problem

Exactly right Wayne.

You would think that the information highway and access to vast amounts of information.......thousands of times more than what we could get before the internet would have served us in a way so that we would quickly evolve into enlightened.....savvy.....knowledgeable......objective, critically thinking, wise and especially WELL INFORMED beings that converged on the truths that define all things....especially science and physical principles that define things like energy.

For sure there has been an increase in knowledge in many realms as well as being more informed about tthem.

But the abuse of these powerful tools to use them for propaganda by the gatekeepers has vastly increased the DISinformation which is used to push a lot of complete horse manure like this to control political agenda.

The manufactured fake climate crisis during this climate optimum is the biggest example. Climate science was hijacked and climate history was rewritten.

Then junk science and a manufactured crisis was repeated for decades.....until the lies are now accepted as the truth.

The climate accord will do nothing for the climate.

The green new deal will do nothing for the planet. If you understand just the basics of energy, you know that it’s a fairy tale.

But it’s been sold convincingly as our only way to save the planet. Ironically, solar and wind are much, much more damaging to the environment than fossil fuels.

When I talk like this, I have to remind others that metmike is a practicing environmentalist.

Wayne, it’s not likely they can ban the ice engine for several decades even if they wanted to. And like you said, reality will hit and this junk science that has captured the brains of people in 2021 will be an historical joke in 2051.

In 30 years, our belief in this crap will have been completely exposed.

All electric cars in  2035?   It's unthinkable here in California. This state does not have enough electricity to supply all households on a hot summer day. We are subjected to "rolling black-outs"

There are 15 mill cars in CA! They would have to invent another power source.

Little nuclear powered engines?  No, we would all be glowing in the dark.

wind-powered cars? Yeah! That's it!

Exactly Gunter!

We only make enough energy now from solar and wind to cover a fraction of the needs for electricity for people's home and businesses.

How will we add the demand needed to power 100 million vehicles to that and meet the demand for all of it?

That's alot of solar and wind.

Keep in mind that any solar panels and solar farms and wind turbine farms out there today, in 2021 will all need to be replaced before 2050. They only last 20-25 years.

Massive amounts of toxic waste and spent natural resources.

In 30 years, where will the emissions from burning fossil fuels be?

They call it carbon pollution to trick you but the truth is that CO2 is a beneficial gas..........the building block of all of life.

Much of that CO2 will have been turned into food from growing crops or into greening up the planet even more....speeding up the regrowth of forests.

The absolutely best thing that humans have ever done for the planet that would not have happened in our absence is feed it CO2.

The planet is not dying from climate change. This is totally made up. The planet continues to green up massively.............not despite climate change but because of it and the increase in CO2.

If they stop selling ICE engines, an industry will be built on keeping existing ICE engines running.

I can see a black market, where for a few extra dollars, they'll replace the Electric engine in your new car with a "legacy" ICE Engine.

actually, when I meant replacing ICEs with "wind power", I had sails in mind. It worked for the NAVY for many years

You would just have to make the vehicles very light. On a windy day, you would them up to 15 mph in no time.

Sail Powered cars are probably far more practical than what's currently on the table.
