https://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=1013776&mid=9166147#M9166147  this map looks fairly accurate. For example we are now going on 30 days since last measureable percep SE of Indpls .....and a good map to understand why this  crop is shrinking

for the last 30 days we have been watching showers drift across NC Indiana from Ill right into Ohio time after time and that shows pretty clear on the map

Great topic mcfarm.

I like the % of average precip maps the best.

Here's the 14,  30, 60 and 90 day % of average precip maps.

I see that 30 day dry pocket in Central IN that you were typing about.

You are welcome to pass on any stuff here to your good farm pals elsewhere.

We were also getting pretty dry here too mcfarm.

Went 2 weeks without any rain.............then last Sunday/Monday morning I measured just over 3 inches in the backyard rain gauge.

Earlier in July, I spend 2 weeks in Detroit helping my almost 96 year old Dad, getting back to just north of Evansville(in the southwest part of IN,)  on July 17th.

Almost 5 inches in the rain gauge! That might be the period in which you saw your last decent rain.

Tracking from southeast MI, then across the entire state of IN from northeast to southwest, I didn't see a bad field..........windshield tour that as you know can be deceptive.

I will guess that for our county, may see close to a record yield. Could have used  cooler temps last week to maximize corn filling(too much heat, so we got some heat fill for a week) so that may prevent records but still close.

However, the previous week featured temps way below average with the lows on several nights/mornings  near record cool at or just below 60.

Nice map mcfarm!

Corn ratings dropped 2% and beans fell 3%.

No surprise based on all these maps. When it was cool the week before it didn't hurt but last week brought some heat and not much rain.

This has been a year of the haves and have nots when it comes to rain. The last meaningful rain we received here was July 16. We did receive 1/4 in on 8-13. Beans are very stressed at the time when they need the rain to put size in the bean. prospects go down every day with out rain. Keep in mind that this is just my area.

Really sorry to hear that guys. Especially from the same state.

Here in the southwest corner we just got another 2 inches the last 2 hours, part of the massive rains just south of us the past week.

That's after getting another inch earlier this week. Had 3 inches the week before that after being dry for 3 weeks but having 5 inches the 10 days before that.

Looks like this will end up with us being at least the 6th wettest August for Evansville if it doesn't rain another drop this month. After this rain the airport should be above 6 inches for August so far.

This was precip the last week below.
