A few weeks ago, the Dominican Republic had a severe outbreak of swine flu.I don’t know whether it is contained or not.

If it is still going on, then I wonder if it is possible that the recent tropical storm blew some of these viruses to the USA (they are transmitted by air). If so, this disease could spread to the US.

Any comments from our climate scientists are welcome.

Interesting point Gunter. 

Virus’s, bacteria and microbes are definitely transported around the world from one place to another.

I’m not aware of any studies that have found the ones that affect animals including humans are transported in high enough numbers to be significant.

Otherwise, we would have massive outbreaks that spread around the world constantly via the steering winds.

There are some plant diseases and fungi/mold that do this. This is a great topic to explore/learn about.
