Export inspections for #corn & #soybeans exceeded expectations last week. Some 1.7 mmt of beans were inspected for #China as were 144kt #corn. #Wheat inspections were relatively light.

#China's imports of #pork and #soybeans in the first 9 months of 2021 fell below year-ago levels, but all other imports are up significantly, especially #corn. Corn imports have totaled nearly 25 mmt (981 mbu) so far.

U.S. #corn export inspections have been on par with or better than last year in the latest three weeks after a historically slow start to the season. Inspections for #soybeans are now respectable but off last year's hot pace. Next few weeks usually host the biggest volumes.

Another strong week for corn/soy sales last week. #China bought 1.9 mmt #soybeans, unknown 569kt. #Corn was sold to unknown 457kt, Mexico 377kt, Japan 230kt. #Cotton sales were above recent averages, led by China. Beef sales were a MY low.

U.S. #corn export sales totaled 28.9 mmt as of Oct. 14, slightly above the year-ago high. That represents 46% of USDA's 21/22 forecast vs. 48% a year ago. But non-#China sales are a hair below last year and off 2016 & 2018, years when #Brazil's crop fell very short.

USA sold 2.9 mmt of #soybeans last week, the biggest weekly volume in over a year. Total sales of 29.3 mmt through Oct. 14 cover 51% of USDA's 21/22 forecast. Last year's 45.3 mmt covered 76%, though that was an anomaly. Non-#China sales are nothing special at all.

Probably should show #soybeans without China and unknown. Last week's spike goes away. U.S. soybean sales to known destinations besides China are not terrible but extremely average/slightly below. Beans are quite expensive this year versus the others shown.
