Why do we wage war????

Because we [somebody] likes to kill each other

We don't have to kill for food, shelter or love

Animals  kill to survive

Mankind could work it out with no loss of life

But give a man a gun and he lives more in that moment of  kill or be killed

Than any other moment in life

[Memories from those who have been there, from wars past and present]

Great question Wayne!

When I post "This day in history" updates, there are always numerous wars and battles that happened in the past for every day of the year.

Most do not even make the list because there could be many thousands of entries for each day of the year.

Here's a discussion of that which represents thousands of similar discussions.

I should add that as a chess coach, I've noted something related to this.

Chess is a game that features 2 army's that have a general who commands their pieces to make moves in order to out strategize the other general to beat the other army they command.

They both start with the same power, which makes battles and wars in the real world quite a bit different but they still use the same frame of mind that often strongly attracts  MEN to participate in this endeavor.

In 25 years as a chess coach, when I go to the higher levels of scholastic chess, we see 95% of the participants in the championships of the high school division are YOUNG MEN.

This isn't like football or wrestling, where high testosterone and extra muscle give males a massive advantage.

However, there is an indisputable link between males being drawn to chess vs females that IS linked to testosterone and the way the male brain thinks.

Exact same principle in wars.

I've always said that if women ruled every country, most wars would never have happened. Because it's true.

If Putin was a woman, none of this would have happened.

I've read several explanations for this that try to NOT make it because of the difference in the male and female brain.

BS!

One only needs to go to a championship chess competition at any level above elementary school, where both sexes are equally encouraged to play, to see the extremely skewed towards male distribution to know there a big difference in the way the male brain works vs female brain.

This is not to say that men are smarter than woman.

In analytical thinking, generally speaking males are more gifted but 3 of my young ladies were THE BEST of all the students I had at the time playing chess.

Women are probably more gifted at language and other things and by a wide margin, with compassion/love and tolerance and the ability to see thru the eyes of other people, which in today's world, is the greatest cerebral gift of all.

How does one measure that on an IQ test?

This was our championship team from NHS earlier this month:
