According to the headline, suicides may be contributing to global warming

Hi Carl,

Am thinking that you are being serious and didn't post that story for a joke.

It's junk science. Researchers that provide this sort of stuff ought to have their jobs taken away and certainly, their funding taken away, as much of the problem is millions of dollars available for fake/alarmist global warming news.

From the story:

"But the thousands of additional suicides that are likely to occur as a result of unmitigated climate change are not just a number, they represent tragic losses for families across the country," he said."

From a more extensive study:

Cold kills 20 times more people than heat

"The study — published in the British journal The Lancet — analyzed data on more than 74 million deaths in 13 countries between 1985 and 2012. Of those, 5.4 million deaths were related to cold, while 311,000 were related to heat.

Because the study included countries under different socio-economic backgrounds and with varying climates, it was representative of temperature-related deaths worldwide, the study said. The sharp distinction between heat- and cold-related deaths is because low temperatures cause more problems for the body's cardiovascular and respiratory systems, it added."

The fact is that global warming is SAVING lives. This suicide study is based on language they interpreted from reviewing tweets on Twitter during heat waves........very subjective.

Also from the study:

The past three years were the hottest on record, the United Nations' World Meteorological Organisation said in March.

This is true. Let's see what also happened.

2015...........hottest global temperatures ever!!............record world food production!

2016..........new hottest global temperatures ever!! New records for world food production!

2017/18...........global temperatures cool off a bit. No new record for world food production.

  Release date: 05/07/2018

While there is more to it than just that, including the increase in CO2 from 280 parts per million to 405 ppm which is probably contributing an addition of 25% to crop yields, including making plants more drought resistant............having a glut in world food supplies is SAVING many, many lives and who knows how many more people would commit suicide if they were starving vs being hot.

For certain, the weather for most life during the past 40 years has been the best in the past 1,000 years, since it was last this warm during the Medieval WARM Period, 1,000 years ago.

Are there more people committing suicide during heat waves then there were 40 years ago? Surely there must be because we have more heat waves.

One of their facts:

In a heat wave in May, more than 60 people died in Karachi, Pakistan, when the temperature rose above 40C (104F).

Here's another fact from the study I provided:

"The study — published in the British journal The Lancet — analyzed data on more than 74 million deaths in 13 countries between 1985 and 2012. Of those, 5.4 million deaths were related to cold, while 311,000 were related to heat.

They state:

In 2015, countries signing the Paris Agreement set a goal of limiting a rise in average world surface temperatures to "well below" 2C (3.6F) above pre-industrial times, while "pursuing efforts" to limit rising temperatures to 1.5C (2.7F).

Fact: THe Climate Accord would do nothing to effect the climate........nothing. India and China are increasing their CO2 emissions(allowed in the Climate Accord) much more than anybody else is cutting them anyways.  The only thing that agreement does is transfer wealth from the rich countries to the poor countries, with the US by far the country that donates the most billions and China, being considered a poor country gets the money we donate............we don't get to decide where any of our money goes, the UN decides what countries get our money.......and China is one of them.

They also state the following and on this they have the fact correct:

U.S. President Donald Trump has vowed to pull out of the accord, which would make his country the only one to do so.

Gee whiz, do you wonder why nobody else is pulling out?  Why would countries getting free money from us for doing nothing pull out of the agreement?

Why are they upset with us?

Answer:  Because we are supporting the dang thing with the most money.

With no Climate Accord, the US has already cut emissions on its own anyway.

Trumps says lots of dumb things and does some dumb things but pulling out of the Climate Accord was one of the smartest things a US president has ever done.

CO2 Emissions Lowest in Seven Decades In Trump’s America

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2018/07/12/co2-emissions-lowest-in-seven-decades-in-trumps-america/

"Even more interesting is the fact that US carbon emissions dropped while emissions from energy consumption for the rest of the world increased by 1.6%, after little or no growth for the three years from 2014 to 2016."

Of course part of this is just the rest of the world catching up to us but the Climate Accord is a massive fraud.

Er, I think Carl may have been having a bit of fun with the headline, which can be taken in two ways.

Thanks JP,

I can get carried away when the topic of climate change comes up

Sorry for making you go to all that trouble, Mike, but John is right. I never got past the headline.

Carl,

No trouble at all.................it's what I do (-:

Saw this article today that made me think of you and the one that you posted........that it can be taken a different way:

Study: Global Warming Reduces Summer Mortality

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2018/07/28/study-global-warming-reduces-respiratory-mortality/

Methods and findings

We analysed a dataset from 47 major cities in Spain for the summer months between 1980 and 2015, which included daily temperatures and 554,491 deaths from circulatory and respiratory causes, by sex.

Results pointed to a reduction in the relative risks of cause-specific and cause-sex mortality across the whole range of summer temperatures.

Less people dying from sex in the Summer?
