Need some advice. Found out my phone number on the land line has been spoofed. In the last few days I have gotten several calls saying they are returning my call . Some were from residence some were from businesses. They are showing up on their phone as a missed call with my phone number. Now I would just chalk this up as a annoyance but for the fact that two people who called me accused me of being a scammer and came close to threatening me as he said I had called him 6 times, before I could calm them down and make them understand. If any of these people had got my address from the phone number and came to the house I could see it getting ugly real fast. I have called my provider and they were no help nothing they could do. Question has any of you had this problem? How long did it last? Any suggestions besides getting a new number. From what I can find out is scammers have figured out to use a local number as people are more apt to answer it . Thanks in advance.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and sorry that you're having this issue.
I don't know what the solution is and my wife's mom passed away a few days ago or I would try to spend some time learning about this situation and trying to help.
Keep us posted as others will likely be the targets of similar scams at some point.
Mike so sorry to hear about your Wife's Mom. I know from experience how rough a time it can be. I would t have even brought this topic up except for the fact I can see it becoming violent with the wrong people. Thanks

It's really good to bring this up. You are doing us all a favor, especially me so that we can get tuned into the effects of one of the latest of hundreds of ongoing scams.
I've received phone calls from scammers using the name of someone who passed away recently in the local area! That means they must look at recent local obituaries and then have those names show up in caller ID when they call thinking that will get some people to answer the phone.
