metmike: Interesting that one side sees this as OUR Afghanistan but others see it as Russia's Afghanistan.
Whether it's Russia's Afghanistan or not is of much less importance than if its OUR Afghanistan.
This is turning into just another endless, costly war that drains more money and kills more people than if we had just let Putin get control of Ukraine.
We just can't let him do that!
Yeah, right. Just like we couldn't let..................fill in the blank......................do............fill in the blank with other wars, like Korea and Vietnam and Iraq and Afghanistan and other Middle Eastern countries we tried to control the outcome for.
The US has played a role in many dozens of political regime changes in other countries and strongly backed/supported (with weapons/money/troops/statements)....because that's what we do.
The US always insists that our political wisdom is always right and it always justifies everything that we always do.
10 years after the fact, in reviewing the failed policies with interventions, it turns out closer to being almost always WRONG...........but always being unable to see what we were doing wrong for a very long time after it was obvious.
