Kansas Abortion Referendum

While the Trump cult had a good night Tuesday, the Democrats have a ray of hope given the Kansas vote to protect a woman's right to abortion.  (59-41).

Polls had showed abortion rights with a slim lead days before the referendum vote.  Kansas is a state that hasn't voted Democrat for the White House in over 50 years.

Are moderate Independent/GOP women going to bail out the Democrats from the slaughter that is coming in the midterms based on this issue?  Probably not, but perhaps a ray of hope.

You do realize that the SCOTUS returned the decision to the states, right?   This is exactly how it should be.

folks in congress could have made a compromise, and pass some legislation on this issue,  but the dems went too far to the left, and it did not pass.

most americans are in favor of the roe decision (at least to a limited degree),  and most americans are also ok with some restrictions on abortion.  the public would be fine with a moderate compromise on this issue in congress.

unfortunately, the extreme wing of both parties will never allow any compromise legislation in congress.

so people will take to state proposition ballot measures to do what their political leaders will not do.

Kinda wrong Bear.   There is no compromise on the federal level as the fed has no jurisdiction on this. That's exactly why over turning Roe was exactly right.

But I will agree that had the left not taken it to an extreme, it never would have been an issue.

Most pro-choice folks would view abortion as a necessary evil, up to a point, and would have left it alone.

But the left kept pushing it, stretching it beyond the breaking point until it had to be an issue.

And that's what the left does, and that's why so many issues are coming to a head.

It will be an interesting decade or so.
