They're out but I haven't looked. I'm guessing at least -2/3%, worse for beans.

Corn -3%

Beans -5%!  Imagine if we didn't get those early August rains that caused +5%!

Cotton -2%, -4% vs last year. TX/OK complete disasters

mcfarm and I had a wonderful discussion about this last week and we were expecting this drop:

Conditions for U.S. #corn and #soybeans declined significantly in the last week with the widespread hot and dry weather. Spring #wheat is about 3/4 harvested and winter wheat planting has just begun.

This week's U.S. #corn conditions versus the same week a year ago. Overall very similar but big state-level differences.

U.S. #soybeans are in worse shape now versus a year ago, but some areas are doing better (eastern belt, mid-south). The lack of rain in the past three weeks has stressed the crops (national conditions were 59% 2 and 3 weeks ago).

Yield potential for #CropWatch23 #corn in Minnesota & Nebraska is just average, if not slightly below. Too dry a season and a very unfavorable finish. Test weight is taking a hit in Minn. Corn could be ready for harvest in Neb in about 2 weeks.

Also above average expectations for #CropWatch23 #corn in Illinois and South Dakota. Yield could have been great, but now it will just be good/acceptable. No rain here in the last week or more, either.

#CropWatch23 producers in Indiana and Iowa trimmed yield expectations for #corn because the crop is moving too fast toward maturity and there has been no rain in a while. Above average yields are still anticipated, but the potential was greater just a couple weeks ago.

The South Dakota #CropWatch23 #soybeans may have been toying with record yields a few weeks ago. Dry finish likely won't allow it, though. Average yields expected in Minn & Neb. Indiana should be above average and will be ready to harvest in ~3 weeks.

Iowa and Illinois #CropWatch23 #soybeans over Labor Day weekend. No rain in more than a week. Bean yield is tough to gauge pre-harvest, but the presence of flatter pods indicates the seeds didn't get enough moisture during their critical period. Not much in forecast, either.

A really satisfying shot of the Indiana #CropWatch23 #soybeans

Frustration for the #CropWatch23 fields in central Kansas as yield potential (esp. for #soybeans) had been strong through much of the season. No rain in 20+ days w/ many days > 100 F. Very poor finish. #Corn should be harvested this week w/ low test weights likely.

The continuing dry weather in September in the Mississippi River basin is going to present problems with low river levels coming up.

We remember how low the levels got last year:

Mississippi River record-low water levels ease some, but long-term forecast is dry
