Hunter Biden is indicted on federal firearm-purchasing charges after plea deal fails

Interesting conspiracy theory take below.

I strongly agree that politics are controlling this but not exactly  the way they describe.

Column: Hunter Biden was indicted on gun charges. Here’s the real reason he’s in trouble

https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2023-09-14/hunter-biden-indictment-gun-firearm-charge-harry-litman

It has since become even more obvious that all the rancor over the deal was aimed at the president himself, whom extremists in Congress, whipped up by Trump, are spoiling to impeach. The Republicans have nothing of substance to impeach Biden for, so they are straining to connect him to the sins of his son with ill-founded conjecture. Trump and his supporters’ unhinged animus in this cause is so great that the FBI set up a special task force to deal with the unprecedented number of threats against agents and prosecutors working on the Hunter Biden case.

But given that these arguments are relative long shots for Biden, it’s likely he will have to go to trial on charges that are seldom brought in the middle of a presidential contest between his father and Trump. That will give radical Republicans in Congress the talking point they need to muddy the waters with respect to Trump’s multiple criminal indictments. Weiss has given them just what they wanted.

Why would they go from 1 extreme on this to the other extreme?

I suspect for several reasons.

They got busted not charging Hunter with crimes/going easy on him  and claim that was not true. To prove he’s not getting special treatment and that the DOJ is not politically biased, they are OVER charging.

See….. we told you we don’t play favoritism.

Another reason is to give the impression to the Ds that the Biden family are victims to an unfair justice systems being fueled by MAGA Rs……to use as a false narrative to explain their so called political impeachment investigation of Joe.

They are selling a “Bidens are victims”  because of Rs abusing their power false narrative, not that different than what Trump does.

As the Rs uncover more massive evidence of Biden corruption……like Trump, they attribute it to coming from political enemies weaponizing the justice system to target a political opponent.

If Don jr were indicted for this gun charge the Rs would be screaming bloody hell about the 2nd amendment.

Also, I challenge anyone to show me an indictment with similar circumstances.  Ever.

The prosecutor I saw when asked about the charge said he had never seen a charge like this in 20 years in the courts.

If no crime was committed with the gun the worst that would happen would be that the guilty would lose their license to carry the gun.

Muddy the water...

over charging Hunter. Sure a
Biden adm official would be the only one on earth to try that one. Pretty simple guys. DOJ is so dirty they are staying clear of anything financial. taxes, bribes, black mail, pay for play, anything that could and will finally lead to the big guy.

How could any one at DOJ claim to coming down hard on Hunter and landing on 5 years for simple gun charged that if it were JOe PUblic it would of taken 5 minutes

Just got power back at our house.

This tactic worked perfectly on you, joj!

The narrative that:

1.  "Hunter Biden is "the victim of the unfair justice and pressure from the far right Rs".

2. And "The DOJ goes after Ds with the same tenacity as Rs"

3. If they show this tenacity going after Hunter, that means they must be fair on investigating Joe (who is the real person they are  protecting with this tactic).

There's a near 0 chance that these charges will stick and the ones filing them know it. They are entirely intended as a manipulation tactic to change the narrative/trick people who don't understand the process.

The process will end up, down the road with a plea bargain to something WAY DOWN from these fake,  extremely overblown charges meant to manipulate The narrative.

If they had just boosted the charges a bit, I could have believed in this being a sincere, legit attempt for them to be appropriate. Instead, they went to such a blatant extreme that, almost the only explanation which makes any sense is the one above. Especially considering the dynamics of the law and where this will go eventually.

This guy completely  understands the process and expected it.

He makes a living with very astute legal observations and interpretations:

The trumped up, completely absurd charges are just more evidence that the blatantly biased and fatally corrupt DOJ thinks Americans are all dumb arses or completely controlled by their political bias to be manipulated with their constant abuses of the system with complete bs like this.

This is offensive to me. A travesty of justice by the ones that are supposed to enforce it using objectivity, fairness,  evidence and laws.

I get that the legal system plays games with trumped up over charging to start with a strong negotiating position in a plea bargain.

that’s NOT what they are doing here.

This is not the DOJ applying fair justice, just the opposite.

Its a bunch of unelected bureaucrats with no oversight that operate in secrecy and apply justice in a way that suits their political objectives.

These bs charges have only stirred up much more divisiveness and feelings of injustice by an institution which is supposed to stand for justice and give Americans confidence in our justice System.

They are corrupt SOBs blatantly abusing their  power  for self serving means instead of serving Americans and doing the job we pay them for.

Here you go. No way the DOJ didn't know this was coming and they probably rushed the release of these trumped up,  completely absurd charges against Hunter yesterday to get them in just before this decision today:

A conservative appeals court just ruled against the federal gun law used to charge Hunter Biden

https://www.businessinsider.in/politics/world/news/a-conservative-appeals-court-just-ruled-against-the-federal-gun-law-used-to-charge-hunter-biden/articleshow/103699609.cms

The DOJ gets to have their cake and eat it too.

The farcical charges filed against Hunter make them appear to be tough on the Biden's.........and he still get's off because the charges were absurd with 0 chance of sticking and just another example on the long list of  disgraces to an institution that we are supposed to trust to lead our country's justice system.
